Default Opposite of compensation?

Ok, got to thinking about something as I got ready for bed.

We all know about how they say that "a man driving a big, powerful, flashy car or truck is compensating for a shortcoming". You KNOW what I mean.

So, what about us guys who drive a Crossfire - about the smallest car around - smallest car I have EVER owned, in fact.

Are we, instead of "compensating for a shortcoming" doing the OPPOSITE?

Just a thought - and not much of one, probably. Off to bed with me....

If you're giving it THAT much thought, you probably are.
