Default Las Vegas - Thanksgiving

Hi Guys,

The wife and I have booked a 10 day trip to Las Vegas at the end of November and it just so happens that thanksgiving is during our stay.

As thanksgiving is a federal holiday for you guys, does this mean most places will be closed for the day?

During our stay we'll be taking a helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam and I'll be having a shot in a Nascar.

Can't wait.

Sounds like fun! Only government offices will be closed for the holiday. Vegas will be hopping!

Since you're there for 10 days, you might want to consider a overnight car trip to Grand Canyon's South Rim and take in a tour of Hoover Dam along the way. Here's a link to info on the South Rim:

Grand Canyon Natl Park Visitor Information, South Rim

Be sure to leave me plenty of your money in Vegas.

Thanks for the link, I'll look into it as it sounds fun. My wife has bought two Guide Books and will ensure there's plenty on the agenda. I just pay the bills.

Of course you can also take in the rides at the top of the Stratosphere. They are not for the weak of heart:

Yikes, I'd better pack a few extra pairs of clean underwear.

All the casinos and major places will be open.............a lot of the fast food joints close(for obvious reasons) on Thanksgiving though.

LVMS is having some cool events around the end of November if you're into (watching)drag racing.

I would be down for that..........what kind of food are you guys interested in? I've never been inside Encore........but I did lose some money very quickly in the Wynn(and haven't been back since). lol. There are tons of great restaurants in vegas all over the strip.

Only 5 days to go until the wife and I board the plane and start the long haul across the pond. Not that I'm counting the days of course!

Fingers crossed my Crossfire Suitcase arrives in time to use, its currently held up with customs in the UK.

I went to Vegas all alone a couple of years ago... had a good time actually, my time was spend doing Helicopter Tours and the Hoover Damn, totally enjoyed it... Didn't get to see the strip at night, except from my window, was a little worried about walking the streets alone. Know what I mean?

You have nothing to worry about..............as long as you're not wandering around on the North end of the strip(around Statosphere/Sahara casinos).

I get off work M-F at 5pm and currently have a clear schedule turkey day week if we all want to meet up. I still don't know where everybody's staying.....but I know one is gonna be at Encore. There's a good restaurant at the Venetian called Grand Lux that has a lot of good food at decent prices.
