You know when you see that product on the shelf, and you just think, "that's a really bad idea..."

This is that product.

I nominate it for worst idea of the century award.

Hey, that's a great little table for lining up six to eight tequila shots before heading off on your morning commute.

How many times after seeing something new I have said to myself "why didn't I think of that".
Thankfully I didn't have that thought this time, I would have added a cup holder.

The manufacturer better have a good legal department cause I can see the lawsuits coming.

actually, there is a similar version that was marketed to the trucking industry as a lap top desk...I don't think it ever took off.

It's amazing to me how stupid products like these enter production. Somebody had to think of the idea then think its a good idea, then pitch it to others as a good idea, then other the people who also think its great actually design, produce and market the product.

Not something I'd recommend, but I can see some of those high power sales types who have to sit in LA traffic, or Chicago traffic picking up one. Looks like a great way to pop an airbag to me though

Did you look at the pictures under the main one? Nice shots of crumpled up cars in accidents.

I actually had something similar 10 years ago when I was in outside sales, but it was more a lunch try thing than a laptop desk, although it could have been used as such. Of course the packaging contained a warning that it should not be used while driving, but, um..... duh!

Still, I was always on the go so lunch was often at a drive through or sandwich shop, so I'd use the thing as a lunch tray in the car - while parked under a shady tree, of course - and it was great for keeping the inside of the car clean during lunch.

It is amazing to think, however, that some moron will actually try to drive while using this thing to hold their laptop. Astonishing how idiotic some folks can be.

I had a similar idea once. A book holder so college girls could study AND put on their make up while driving to school every morning. I can't tell you haw many times I see this and the pages keep flipping on them. Poor things, how frustrating for them.

That was before cell phones so it was possible. But not today so I gave up the idea.

I like Onehundred80's cup holder concept. A definite improvement over the standard issue we got. The hot coffee would be properly positioned to give you a warm wakeup on your first sharp turn.

And, it wouldn't bump your elbow when you shifted.

Like this one?

My copilot and I both used these during our "daily grind" transcontinental flights from San Diego to Minneapolis. We had to modify them a bit to fit snug against the instrument panels (when we bought them we didn't realize the planes we fly don't have steering wheels!), but in the end it did the job. With our laptops firmly in place we were able to focus our attention on what really mattered, participating in raids with our WoW clan. During our last flight we were so immersed in trying to take down Eranikus that we overshot Minneapolis by a full hour and a half before some annoying flight attendant interrupted us, babbling something about "FAA and F16 fighters."

We'll definitely use this product again at our next gig, whatever and whenever that happens to be...

Highly recommended!
