looking for a piece of magnesium
i need a 1.5" long section of 3/4" OD magnesium tubing in the 12-20 gauge range.
i cannot find anyone to sell me any quantity of the stuff
anyone have any leads? all the places i found listing the tubing while googling have responded with "we no longer carry any magnesium" when i try to order.

Good luck.
I spoke to guy at Smallparts and was told they don't carry it for 2 reasons:
Insurance for flammable metals is stupid expensive
Dangerous. DHS is now tracking movements of this for their own reasons.

Magnesium's flammability has nothing to do with its lack of availability.
The real issue is that Magnesium is almost 99% cast or injection molded. It's traded on the materials markets by the ton.
Seam-welded magnesium tubing is known to be weak and also demand for straight tube on the industrial scale is extremely low. Therefore most people who use magnesium for tube will buy bar-stock and drill/bore the tube, which is what I recommend to you.
Magnesium Round Bar: AZ31B
Demand for Magnesium is extremely low. You are talking about 20 million + tons of Aluminum worldwide produced vs 400,000 tons of Magnesium. That is 50x less demand and its availability is much lower as a result.

btw, magnesium creates its own o2 when it burns, it will burn under water.
