Default Why is this on our site?

$69 Crossfire Chip 60 Horsepower Increase 7 MPG Boost Custom ECU Chip Easy Installation www.GForceChips.com

This was at the top of our site home page. Piece of crap false advertisement and supported by our site! I thought we protected each other from this junk?

LOL!

Either way, it's still better than that guy who wanted to sell his website for crossfire's here. Crossfiregarage.com I think.

He was actually trying to hock a chip that promised 500hp and 100MPG, all for the low price of $29.95, or some ridiculous price.

It ultimately is up to us to make sure we're not our own worst enemy.

We do. You just did.

The owner of the site seeks advertiswers to help support it. It ain't exactly free.
so. Just like magazines that have ads for sexual enhancement pills, one must be cautious and leery.

Self serving, or just plain poor excuse?

I did not put this add at the top of the site home page, and find it offensive that a true motorsport enthusiast would promote or justify why it is their.

These ads are just random subjects that fit the content of that page. Google is just making a buck ......................... not as if there's anything wrong with that.

Maybe to better explain the reason.... The owner gets revenue by selling space to a ad subscription service. The site owner did not contract with the company that sells this piece of crap, it is just part of the ad subscription service. If you notice, when you do a google search and then come to this site, there is a good chance that there will be a banner displayed that has something to do with your previous search. It is target advertising. The owner of this site could not remove an individual ad if he wanted to. The only thing he could do would be to cancel the ad subscription service which would result in the closure of this site. If this site was actively managed and was more of a mainstream site where it was viable to seek specific advertisers that would be another thing. But, this is not a mustang forum where there are tons of vendors that are willing to pay for the opportunity to garner our interest. I hope this makes sense, and puts things in perspective.

No one said you did. Cool your jets OK. Geez

You asked who protects us from this crap? Simple. We do. Your friends here on the forum.
You pointed it out. KUDOS to you.

Shared knowledge and resources. That's how we protect ourselves.

It's an AD. You are on a public forum.

What has "a true motorsport enthusiast" have to do with it?

Really? Try paying up, forum regular, then you would not have to see these ads that apparently bother you so much.

You obviously spend time here, so help Julian take the ads off the site by actually supporting it rather than just bitching.

Or use the Adblock Plus plug-in for Firefox. It does wonders on all sites that have ads.

Keep clicking until you see the one you like or ignore it. I keep clicking the Chrysler ad and it keeps coming back, I guess I'll stop looking at the ad and read the threads.
