Been there a couple of times and it never lessens the pain; not looking to the next one.

Sorry for you loss.

Real sorry to hear about that Tony, I have a pretty good idea what you and the Wife a feeling right about now.
Just try to remember all the good times you had with your pup, when ever you want a smile.

it's so painful to have to hear this... i can relate and have been in your situation many of times with beloved pets.

try to stay strong and remember the great love your pet provided to you and your family over those years. lets hope she is in a better place and now resting pain free.

I am so sorry! I just lost my 16.5 year old Cattle Dog Darby to a brain tumor a little over 2 months ago. I really miss having her in my life as I'm sure you will miss Snowy. I hope they are all playing together at an awesome dog park in heaven just waiting for us to get there with treats & a belly rub.

Tony, I'm so sorry to hear you lost your dog. I know how hard it us to lose a beloved pet. We get very attached to them.

I feel for your loss.

We had a very terrific tomcat named Jack who went down from a stroke at age ten. He loved to ride in the Crossfire and would run up to greet me whenever I pulled up to the garage. I'd pop the door open and give him a ride around the block. He loved it and was so happy all the time.

It's been a year and I still catch myself looking for him whenever I pull up to the garage door. Then it hits me...Jack's gone, he's not there and never will be again. It a sharp, deep stabbing pain of loss. I thought it would fade with time...

I loved all my pets through the years but some really are special !

The ONLY time I saw my dad cry was when Tiny, our beagle / terrier mix who we'd had for something like 14 years, died. She had curled up under a tree in the yard and ... well... when dad drove in the drive, she didn't move.

Dad KNEW (we all did). I watched him go over to Tiny - he was shaking - and he tried to wake her up by talking to her.

Oddly, when I offered to bury her, Dad said "No. I have to do this".
And he did.

That was in 1974 or 75 or 76 ... I remember it like yesterday.

So sorry to hear of this Tony. This past memorial Day was the day for my buddy of 13 years too, Cider. It really hurts of course, and you'll always remember that dog. Within 2 weeks I picked up a 9 year old Collie from a shelter because I was missing his presence so much. That was a really good thing for both me and the dog. She needed a good home to finish out her life and I needed a buddy again. Not the same dog by any means, but her beginning to trust me and seeing her change has really helped me let Cider go to chase bunnies in a place where he'll probably be able to catch them! Snowy had a great life I'm sure with you! Mark

Thanks to everyone for your condolences. It was hard to watch the vet inject him and have him pass. It's harder on our kids especially my daughter, Snowy was part of their lives for more than 1/2 their lives. I got up this morning expecting Snowy to be there to greet me good morning and run to the back door to be let out, I actually got up with that intention, but no Snowy. I think I'm going to miss you more than I thought.

So sorry for the loss Tony. I've had to do the same several times and it seams to get harder each time. We've found the best remedy is to get another one. You might consider getting a rescue puppy. There's lots of good ones out there these days.

Tony,

there is nothing in the world that will reduce a big, mean cantankerous SOB like myself to a crying little kid as when I lose a best friend.

I'm with you, bud.
