Hit 50 today and saw the doc
Well Fifty caught up to me today, took the day off from work and spent it with my wife. Hitting 50 wasnt so bad but ironically it was the same day I had an apt with an endocrynologist. Seems my thryoid is shot and has to come out soon. Does the fun ever stop?!

Welcome to the 50's club. Sorry about the thyroid issue. About the only change I've had is wearing glasses to read small print.
I turned 50 this spring. Yea, small print is invisible to me these days, my hair is as thin as a Georgia lawn in August, I'm invisible to any woman under 40, and two doctors have told me that the pain in my foot is arthritis. (I quit going to both doctors cause of THAT remark).
But, it's not all bad news, I'm down to a 34 inch waist - first time since high school, I have my cholesterol down to around 187 - not great but not bad and I own a pretty little red roadster. Life isnt' THAT bad... yet.

I hit 50 a little over a year ago and also visited the Doc. He asked when my last physical was and I told him when I was 25. He didn't look very pleased. At one point in the exam, I siad "Oh yea! that is why I get a physical every 25 years!! The Doc almost seemed amazed he couldn't find a single thing to even discuss. He said on paper I was still 25. fine with me. Btw, I am still the exact same size as in high school 32 waist! The Doc gave me a mean look when I said "goodbye, see you in another 25 years"
I went to see the doc the other week and was told my blood sugar was out of control and one of the valves in my heart wasn't working well.
Trouble was the doctor was looking at the wrong file, cue the profuse apologies from the Doc. My actual blood sugar was less than half what the Doc had said it was and my heart is just fine.
As I left through the waiting room I walked by the next patient, sadly he was not too old.
I got in the Crossfire and felt like I was fifty again, until I looked in the rear view mirror. Bugger is that me?

Happy Birthday - I just had my 60th back in June and it was traumatic! 50 wasn't bad but 60 got me. KOW all parts seem to be functioning properly due in part to a regmine of car washing and waxing and a lot of walking.
Fifty ain't bad, it beats the hell out of not making it to fifty doesn't it? Besides thats about the time all of the grandchildren are fun.

Thanks guys, good to know Im in good company. BTW working on my 33" waist but Im not that big of a guy, 5'6, 150lbs. My wife bought me a cool golds gym weight bench to perhaps assist my meger attempts at lifting. Funny, I look back at my life and remember 1980, 20 years old, hiting the gym and making no gains. fast forward, 1990, 30 years old...I'm gonna be buff in my 30s
but couldnt find time. 40's... finally hitting the gym and surprised to see my skinny self getting guns. 48, got married and just stopped. Now at 50 I wonder if I can find the time. Just wonder what sort of a person Id be if I stuck to it 30 years ago?
