That is one nasty storm, Snow and ice all across the country.
The storm sucked all the warm air out of Minnesota, And left us below zero.
I hope everyone is safe and warm.

On the upside, Phil the groundhog says we will get an early spring.

Hello from Yukon......... Oklahoma that is. We got 10 inches with up tp 3 foot drifts. Going out today and try to dig out the driveway so I can get the PT out of the street. Had to leave her there after getting the wife to work yesterday. By the time I got back I had no driveway!!! That snow bank is where the driveway used to be .
Stay safe everyone.

Good thing I did the drive before I saw this...

It certainly is a workout getting through the sleet, the snow was powder so that is the easy part. BTW Doc, don't use the snow shovel, just get a square point and use that to get under the sleet and use the whole bodies weight and it is much easier on the joints; then the easy part comes with using the snow shovel...but you knew that didn't you

We are on a Primary street so this morningi had a two foot high snow diike to chisel out.

Snow shovel couldn't even penetrate it.

Jeep, Mini van and the Roadster are completely encased in ice. Doors won't open. It took two hours to get the van thawed open and cleared enough to drive it out.

Damm Al, the earth does have a temperature.

This storm was predicted early. It was announced all over the news, radio, newspapers, internet... every person in Chicago was talking about it. Some number of the population took a "Yeah, right. We'll probably get 2 inches!" attitude.

Anyone with an IQ over 10 knew to get home as soon as it started, because it was supposed to come on hard and fast. It did. It started at 2:00, and I headed towards home immediately. By 2:15, the streets were getting bad. By the time I got home at 3, the roads were very bad.

Over 700 "We'll probably only get 2 inches" people decided to drive home from the city at 7 pm. By then, the roads were completely screwed. They ended up stuck in their cars on Lake Shore Drive where they were eventually rescued by firefighters on snowmobiles.

Dumbasses.

Did he really say that? I know the "Earth in the Balance" was full of baloney, but I don't recall reading anything that obvious.

I generally take this approach here in TN. Not so much the "we'll probably only get 2 inches" instead I call it the. I'll let all the idiots who are trying to beat the storm home clear out of my way before I make my way home. Some would say you were the "dumbass".

Took that pic across the street at 4:00am.
One plow had made a pass earlier but this was mainly drifting along the edges of the road.

I took a drive through my neighborhood this afternoon once the storm ended and the sun came out.
The clean up was underway by many who live here.

No plows yet in my neighborhood yet. Hopefully by morning. My truck can get out but my wife Challenger has some pushing in its future if no plow. It's clear after the first block.

YouTube - Chi-Town Blizzard - Feb 2011
Canadians would call that a slight dusting of snow.
They said we would have a large storm and every body stayed home, we had just about 8" to 10" and that left us wondering how they could be so wrong - again.
Beaner and Bluecoupe probably had three times what we had, that probably stopped it from dropping here.

For getting home before the roads became impassible? Interesting.
