Looking for the Forum Jokes thread? It's gone and so has the member who went postal on it this afternoon.
After three or four posts that would have fried the ears on a sailor and intended as insults to Franc and myself the member was excommunicated and the thread along with him.

Using information that he had previously posted in his posts, posts that explained the obscure letters he had after his name, I mentioned that maybe that institute would like to know the type of person who it was associated with. The post that he put up containing this info was removed by him before he came back and threatened legal action saying I had divulged private information. He put it out there and then complained. Then he was cast adrift by the powers that be here.

This old man can still remember what I've read in posts and can work the search feature to find them again. His posts were racist, homophobic and just plain filthy to read.

We are better of without him, but the jokes were OK, some duds as far as I was concerned but generally a laugh.

Your personal info is not secret when it hits the Internet.

Sadly too often a thread is lost because someone got out of hand. That's often no big deal but this thread was kinda cool.

Besides, it had a few gems of yours. Unlike you, This old man cannot remember anything so I will simply have to miss them.
On the brightside, if anyone posts an old joke it will not be a repeat. At least for a while.

I guess I missed this entire thing today by not logging in until tonight.
I wish the whole thread had not been removed.
It was not me that pulled it and I have sent a PM to Andrew.
That was really a good thread with a lot of history and on a few occasions it was edited or a post may have been deleted but the thread in general was a good one IMO

 

Huh? One a$$hole comes in here and gets a long standing funny thread deleted? Why didn't just his posts get deleted.

I had Franc's post in my personal email box. The next reply to the humor thread in my inbox was this:

I have been informed from a normally reliable source that the member responsible for the remarks that resulted in the Forum Joke thread being lost has been banned - for seven days.
I would like the mod who smacked him on the wrists to step forward if this is true and explain the reasoning. I have yet to see such language used on any forum that I have looked at. I would expect these ravings on a white supremacist forum but not here.
If need be I will post these rantings and let the members see what caused a seven day ban. If you see what we can post then maybe some others will push the limit even more.

Step up mod and explain yourself.

 

Please do. I'm intrigued by what may have been said. I'm sure it warranted a ban, but I'd still like to see what was said.

 

I'll second that, I didn't get to see any of what you guys are talking about. I would also say if this person's actions were really that bad as to cause them to not only be banned, but to have the entire thread deleted, their screen name should be posted and that person should be banned for as many months as the thread was long...posts, not pages.


Can you wait till this evening say six o'clock central before you start posting anything 180?

 

Sadly the fellow lost all control of himself, What he posted was disgusting.

I tried to figure out what set him off but could not.

I was going to suggest someone needed a nap, But then thought better and stayed out of the fray.

I guess its part of the internet, we are never sure whom will read what we post, and whether they will be offended.

Im kinda interested too, if its not a permenent ban, Id like to know who said what to caution my communications with the guy. Perhaps a few subtle PMs to him in the future could bring him to reason but from what Ive heard so far he's not responsive to others. Again, I dont know, yet being called out in front of everyone will promote defensiveness to save face. Better to pull someone aside (PM) and tell him one on one. Again, dont know the situation as I missed it.

 

The kid has been outed, his name and face are on this site for all to see and I think that re-airing the posts, I printed them, could put him in some jeopardy.
He boasted about his pen and watch collection, probably BS but.....
For his own safety I would recommend that all reference to him be erased.

Kinda hard for me to understand, with the information provided thus far, that an entire thread gets dumped due to someone's ranting that became obtrusive and/or offensive to others. I would understand banning an individual for inappropriate postings, but not the entire thread where it was posted. The remainder of us didn't deserve that form of punishment. And besides, if only a 1 week banishment has been enforced, what guarantees did the Forum Moderator(s) get that it wouldn't occur again in another thread when the individual returns.

Apparently there is more detailed info that I'm not privy to which would explain all of this.

There has been no explanation as yet and I think that one should be forthcoming from someone. Are we so inconsequential that decisions are made by the Lords Mucky Muck arbitrarily and we warrant no explanation or apology.
The three posts should have guaranteed that a permanent ban was given out.
I say strike! Man the barricades. Are we men/women or mice. Demand answers.

first off i and/or any other mods will never satisfy all members regardless of my/their decision(s) and that is not why i am here… i use my best judgment as an admin and one will never receive any sort of apology for that.

i have elected to ban this individual for a 7 day period ... if he returns and elects to step out of line again ... than a permanent ban will be put in place... it’s that simple.

i did delete the inappropriate posts but not the entire thread... i'm not sure if another admin or mod elected to do so... but i personally didn’t see any reason for the entire thread to be lost.

 

7 day cool down time... Then see if round 2 happens. I missed the first.

I even searched the member list looking for banned members and didnt come up with any. I didnt even see tvt on the list or dan root... someone has been doing some "cleaning" of the forum ohh well... probably better off this way anyways. Or I would have listed possiable names if I found any...

 

This matter may never be settled until we all understand WHAT HE SAID ... WHAT DID HE SAY?

 

Thanks for the explanation. I do however feel that if the thread is there, which it should be able to be seen by you unless permanently deleted, then you moderators need to discuss between yourselves who deleted it and why. Then if no real reason, resurrect it.

How else am I to finish my strobe light story???
