Default insurance rates

I just thought I would share this info with anybody who thinks they may be paying to much for insurance, or would like to possibly save some money. I woke up in the middle of the night last week, and while on my computer say a Geico commercial. Just for the hell of it I went to their web site and put in info for my 2 vehicles. I have the 2005 black roaster and a 1996 lumina winter vechicle. Old rates were $590 for 6 months, that is no collision or comp for the lumina and full coverage for the crossfire $500 deductible (full glass). New rate with Geico ( I had to call ,couldn,t believe my eyes ) $213 for 6 months coverage. This is minimal insurance, and no tickets or accidents in over 10 years, but wow. That is with collision and comp. on the roadster, 50,000.00 max per accident. Got the policies in the mail and compared side by side with my old company, a little less coverage but 1/3 the cost.

This is an old forsaken thread, but since the OP was referring Geico to everyone because of their low rates, I thought I would chime in. I moved from USAA to Geico 1 1/2 years ago because they undercut my USAA rate for my limited by $600 with lower deductibles. I had heard rumblings about how Geico is cheap until you get into an accident, but I was saving $100 a month and wasn't too worried. Well fast forward 1 year after I start with Geico, I was in an at-fault accident in my Mercedes C55 in which I rear ended someone in stop and go traffic at 10mph. Because of the design of the C55 the "rear ender" impacted the engine and Geico totaled the car. I received a more than fair settlement (more $ than I paid for the Mercedes). However, today I received the letter from Geico - they are dropping me. My Dad once had Geico and told me to expect this. Unfortunately, now I am relegated to the "high-risk" category having been dropped.

I previously had a policy with Geico General Insurance (which is one of the Geico affiliates for low risk drivers) and paid $600 for a 6 month premium for full coverage on my SRT6 and basic coverage on my 99 Wrangler.

Geico did offer me a new policy through one of its high risk affilates, Geico Indemnity Company, for $1000 for a 6 month premium for the same coverage. All in all, this isn't horrible considering what I am being quoted by some of the other insurers out there.

Just wanted to share my story in case someone is considering switching to Geico. Less: Geico is cheap, just don't get in an accident.

I have full coverage under USAA for $150 a month for my 06 Limited Coupe. At 22 years old with 1 speeding ticket and no accidents, this is less than half the price I would get from Geico.

I pay lots for my insurance. I had a cop ask me awhile back. Do you know that you've got 27 lines on your drive'n record? I don't know what that means but I guess it means 27 tickets. My wife is always complain'n about the insurance cost on the Crossfire, I never ask how much it cost, but I tell her it is the only car that we have full coverage on. My tickets are for speeding only, but at least they don't count my tickets from other states where I've lived, Drive'n fast is my only vice in life. I NEVER complain when I get a ticket and am always plesent to the offending officer.
