Changed my Avatar for a few days
I changed my avatar to honor a fellow deputy killed in a car/motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon. Lee Nyeayea was one of those guys who always had a smile on face and would light up a room when he was around. Only 31/2 years on the job, but was a former Marine vet who served his country before serving his community. He was enjoying his sport bike when a car failed to see him and pulled out in front of him. Lee left 4 children behind and his wife is pregnant with their 5th. Keep his family in your prayers. As I came off a great weekend at the Dragon, seeing what we are all capable of, and certainly what all those sports bike are capable of, maybe we should all just step back a bit before we play, and make sure we play in a safe area. We need to remember to always use good judgement, because you don't think about the others we will leave behind sometimes...if something were to happen to us...just my thoughts right now...it's a sad time...

Well, on a bike you have NO protection. I can now finally afford a Harley.
But I can't see myself ON one...
Real sorry to hear the news, Doc.

Doc, this story ruined my morning. I'll be thinking of this for a while. My condolences.
And: great advice. We should ALL heed it.

Sorry to hear of this doc. I haven't allowed my grandsons to buy a bike. My oldest grandson told me just before he shipped out for Iraq that when he got home he was buy'n a bike and I couldn't say anything. I agreed. However I asked him when he got home to please wait until I was gone before he got one. So far so good. Tis a shame about leave'n behind a family.

To those here who's advice would make this tragedy the victim's fault
please , a little mercy? This is not the place for it.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for Lee... It just struck me hard having just played a little hard the week before. We never know sometimes whats around that next bend while driving hard and having fun. I am sure he never thought it would happen to him, just like the rest of think that as well. Wrong time wrong place, and the good Lord took him home. Just a reminder for us all to pick the right place to play so this doesn't happen to any of our family. I have riden bikes my whole life, and just as fast, and I still do time to time...just be safe...Lee will be laid to rest this weekend while I am on a road trip, and I won't be there in person, just in spirit. Time to change the avatar, and life goes on.
