A blast from the past, do these do a shitty job?
Sometimes you stumble on an old thread that makes you wonder what were they thinking or that's a good idea - not.
Saner minds did add their thoughts at the end.
This is one such thread.

You can tell it is an old thread when he complains about $60 oil changes. I wonder how he would like a $100 oil chang? When I was 16 I bought a '69 Mach 1 and it had what looked like a remote filter. I asked what it was for and he said it used a roll of toilet paper. I changed the roll once before getting rid of it. I can't remember the brand. this was in 1976 and it was very popular back then and considered the best way to filter oil. Maybe some of the older guys on here will remember the brand. I would worry about the papper breakin down and getting into the engine. Maybe you have to use the tough stuff like the kind you find at a gas station restroom

Athough I am not familar with the TP filters, I have heard of them when JCWhitney had them in their catalogs that came to the house once a month.
I have dealt with bypass filters all my career as every unit I worked on had one. And the amount of carbon (diesel powered) that they remove from the oil is unbelievable. The centrifuge bypass system worked best because you had to clean out the canister and see how much crap it removed from the oil. If it wasn't dirty or filled, it wasn't working.
