The wreather here in Lexington Ky was aound 55 Deg and sunny , Headed out to see a good friend of mine , Decided to air the Crossy out, every body around me was running around 75 in a 55 so thinking ( and that where i could kick my a$$ ) let kick it in and see how the new tune working ,( Dam it working good ) and only about 200 yrds from the trune to my bubby house aand BAM!!!!!! there he set some of Kentucky Best !!! Oh ya! NOt good !!! , He got me doing 81 in a 55 ,26 over and i been invited to the big show on 25 Of Jan. Now it not like i get one these every year in fact the last one was in 1985 , So what do you think the cost will be , I;m not going to fight it , The Cop was great very nice , said he would knock it down but they can;t do that anymore , Just a little in put, would be nice ,

Ask for 'Court Supervision" to avoid the ticket from going on your record.
Might need to take a driving class and then need to stay free of tickets for 6 months to a year but it's worth asking.
That's how it works in Illinois anyway

My last girlfriend got nabbed for 24 over in GA last summer. $470 and some points. Her first points EVER.



The best part? She runs a driver training program for the mentally / physically handicapped and the disabled at a state agency near here! She can actually write prescriptions for adaptive equipment for driving your car if you are in some way physically impaired.

Her family does not know - I could blackmail her if I wanted to.

 

I was just looking over the citation ,and notice that the date of violation is wrong ,he put down for 12/07/11 and should have been for 1/7/12 ,Now what hell im suppose to do now ,anything would help ,because i was home in bed that date ,12/7 was a wed .

In Ontario, a mistake on the ticket of that type is considered a fatal error. The ticket will likely be tossed out. If you go to court you have to request in advance to second the officers notes of that day. That would be used to corroberate or negate the ticket, if they don't match.

All of that said, the prosecuter could ask that the ticket date error could be ammended in court. It is possible that the judge could do that and then the chips fall as they may. Reasonably though, it might be denied and the fatal error would likely be tossed out.

The big thing is to assess not just the ticket cost but also the potential impact on your insurance. In Ontario, such a ticket would stay on your driving record (hence affect your insurance) for 3 years. Ouch!!

Defending the ticket with one of the Ticket Buster type services might cost about $300 here. Not sure what the cost would be where you are but it might be worthwhile to fight it.

Too bad ... I got a ticket for 5km/hr over in my Avalanche and it will affect me for the next 3 years to the tune of about $300 on my insurance. The ticket was only $27.50 !!!

Lawyer up. We can give you advice all day long, the only one who can give you sound legal counsel is a lawyer... The ticket is likely to cost you a lot in fines and insurance surcharges, so spend the $ and talk to a lawyer. Bill

 

Have a good friend that a lawyer, already talk with him, was pretty sure that it would be reduce to a payble fine , Because of the fact that my last one was in 1985 and did not think that would even show up , because it was so long ago, , he also told me that just becuse the date was wrong would not help one way or other , I will get it work out one way or the other and i will be fine , Somtime you play you pay,

 

Sorry to hear about you getting caught. I have never had a ticket I got convicted for, as my record has been fairly good. When I do get that occasional ticket, I ask for supervision, and that usually works well for me. Not in 2011. I got a ticket for not making a complete stop, on a new local stop sign. I could have asked for supervision, but there was some confusion, and they never scheduled me for safety school. I let it go, and just paid for it thinking I'll just be careful not to get another ticket in 12 months. Well, I was stopped for speeding, kinda like you did, 80 in a 55. I was on the fast lane, and had to move to the far right to exit. There he was, and he stopped me, and told me the only reason he gave me a ticket was because I moved to the center lane going 80.No one on this E-way ever goes 55. I was just keeping up with traffic. With the previous ticket, I'm not eligibale for supervion, so now I have two, and in Illinois, it's three and youre out. Sad thing was, I was driving my daughter's VW Beetle with a pink "I love Kitty" steering wheel cover.

Now I have to drive like a nun till this coming July...

Well got home just few min ago , Good thing is that, i;m not going to get any jail time , I was lucky in the fact that i had great lady judge that amended my ticket to 25 mph over and give me, , the choice of traffic school and ask me if i had any tickets in the last yr , and I reply my last ticket was 27 yrs ago , she got big kick out that , so i;m going to traffic school at 15.00 and court cost 133.00 and win all said and done no points , out pocket money will be 148.00, total, and lesson learned , i hope not to get another ticket for 27 more yrs , Would like to say thanks to Doc for listen to me over the phone and given some great points on how it all works , and to rest my great Crossfire friends for there iinput truly wish you all lived a little closer , We will be seeing you at Dragon in Spring and Fall Thanks for your help freinds Ray

 

Sounds like it could have been a lot worse Ray. That's cheaper than my 15 over ticket I got in North Carolina.

 

Just beware, I have found that tickets tend to come in pairs! You get one, your scared of the repercussions, you get a light slap on the wrist, you relax and stop worrying, you get another ticket! Ask me how I know. Good luck and drive safe.
