Default Rear Spoiler Material?

What is the outer surface of the NA's rear spoiler made of? I know it burns, or melts.

WHAT !!!!!

Since a magnet will stick on it, it is either:
1. alien material
2. NASA magnetic plastic
3. magnetic titanium left over from the scrapped SR71's
4. just plain old steel.

I'm going with alien material.

The Limited's and Base spoiler topside seems to be of a plastic material. The bottom side is steel. Squirrel Crusher

Alax, you must be using a strong magnet and it's picking up the steel on the underside of the spoiler, because a refrigerater magnet slides right off the outer surface of mine.
Thanks Crusher.

Thanks Crusher.
It's George, not Alax ( the alaxfire is for Alabama Xfire ) and I think I see where we might disagree :
I have a roadster, and that puppy is STEEL ( I checked again ).
Guess the coupes have the alien material ..........

I can't say for the roadster. You got me there! I have a complete Limited Coupe rear hatch door in my parts collection. The top side is definately plastic that has a melted seam attaching it to the lower steel bottom. Squirrel Crusher

Sorry George, When I don't know somebody's name, I just go by screen names. Glad to meet ya.
That's strange, why would they use 3 different kinds of materials on the three different rear soilers?

Mine is the same as alaxfire's, plain ol steel. My sirius antenna grabs ahold easily and holds on tight. Nothing to melt on it. Strange...

Since I have one of each in my garage I took a light refrigerator magnet out and did the test. It slides right off the coupe. Sticks just fine to the roadster. Looks like roadster is just painted steel. Coupe is alienware. Ron

To Mike 1118: The under section is definitely steel - mine was rusting pretty bad. I searched "stop the rust" and found all the information I needed to repair it. Basically I just removed the spoiler from the car, cleaned the rust, applied the pro-15 and painted over it. Can't hardly tell where the rust was -- you can do it! This a shot of the rust...sorry, I didn't take an "after" pic...

I wish I could see the picture better. When I say the spoiler is beginning to rust is this. I'm getting some very tiny bubbles in the paint on the topside of my spoiler. I'm getting ready to wrap it so I'm not sure that it'll make a difference anyway. Someday I may buy a spoiler just in case it gets bad.

Since roadster and coupe spoilers are of different material, which one is lighter? Those 8 ozs could be the difference between a 1st and 3rd finish. Seriously, why oh why would they make the spoilers out of different material when they look exactly the same? Or do they?
