So long.. thanks guys!
I am leaving the Crossfire world in favor of a 2011 Mustang GT. I haven't been on in months due to some major changes in my life.. I am more or less done with school and got a job as an engineer. I just want to thank you all for making this forum what it is and hope it continues to help and entertain Crossfire owners into the future. Good luck to everyone involved in the turbo project, it has been something I was very into since I joined this forum and hope to see it come to life in the coming months. I had alot of fun and learned alot on this forum, and will be back from time to time. I apologize to anyone who PM'ed me or was waiting on one of my projects I never had time to do. Maybe one day I'll be back as a Crossfire owner
, I can't complain that mine had 0 problems whatsoever in the 4 years and 60,000 miles I've owned it for. I'll miss the little speedbubble, but the Mustang is quite a car (and will be even better with a procharger
). If anyone is interested I will be selling some of my upgrades after I take them off the Crossfire; but I will make a seperate thread for that. So long all, keep crossing fires and have fun!
I'm away on a business trip and the Hamton Inn's internet is SO DAMN SLOW, so I can't upload anything to YouTube - but I ran Blood Mountain (US129 south of Blairsville, Georgia) on Sunday against four late model Mustangs. They passed me when I was stopped to visit a tree (you know) and I took off after them. I did manage to catch them, and we ran together for a mile or so, but when the curves came along, I passed them and left 'em behind.
Enjoy your Mustang (GREAT muscle car - with a hell of an ancestory) but remember, it's a muscle car, not a sports car. I am confident you WILL be back. No law says you can't have a Mustang AND a Crossfire - best of both worlds, you know?
Oh, and congrats on the job as engineer.

Congrats on the new job and new car!! The 2011 GT is a beast, you will have no regrets.
Did you have diffusers installed on your Crossfire? If so, dibs
Don't be a stranger Len!

Well, good for you! Congradulations on finishing school and joining the ranks of tax givers. Enjoy the 'stang, and we'll miss you!
Best of luck, sir.
Oh-and thanks for all you've given to the forum over the years! As I said-you will be missed!

Why is it, that news of you jumping ship to go with a new Mustang not surprise me?

All kidding aside, enjoy your new ride. And congrats on earning that degree.

Best of luck with the Stang, it will be fun too. Like someone before said you can own both. I have to say I would give up almost anything rather than lose my XF, love that car!! Let us hear from you!
Congrats on getting the Engineering degree. We need a new one as this old one is about to exit stage left. Call me in 40 years and tell me how much you enjoyed it.
Good luck. I'm real glad to hear of you get'n a job right out of school. I have two grand sons in the engineering school at Ohio U. And I sure hope that they too can get a job when it is their time. Don't know if you remember but you "F"ed me when I first came on board. No money changed hands . Was nice of you. Good luck.
Thanks everyone for the kind words!
-John, sorry I don't have diffusers.
- Pizzaguy - The mustang actually handles quite well, according to motortrend it pulls .94 G in the skidpad, runs 0-60 inthe mid 4 second range and runs high 12's in the quarter. Thats a sports car to me
. Too bad the crossfire doesn't come with the 5.0 coyote engine lol. Keeping both is unfortunately not an option, as I already have a 73 mustang. Having 3 cars isn't something I can pull off at this time.
-Max- Thanks! I'll be lurking and will make an occasional post I'm sure.
-+fire- I wanted a mustang before I got the crossfire, but the crossfire was more affordable. I don't think youre the only one that saw it coming lol. I'm a sucker for rear drive v8's with a stick behind them..
-dtinker- glad to hear you're so happy with yours, I hope it treats you well for years to come! I still need to respond to your PM, I took a bunch of pictures for you regarding the install and will send it as 1 message.
-Al- Hey, after 1 month I still love it. If I play my cards right and continue to invest I will be retired in 40 years.. but I guess nothing ever goes according to plan
-Mike - I was thinking "what did I do to this poor guy?" then remembered the message lol.. Hope the old F is treating you well
-Anthony- It's white.. I am already ordering a saleen front grill and blackout tail panel so that should distinguish from the other million mustangs driving around our area lol. It may be a bellybutton car (everyone has one) but I was sold on the test drive. I'm sure I'll see you at some car shows and try to pull the old " how do you like the sebring coupe" routine
. I'll give you a ride if youre interested.
I'll post some pictures when I pick it up either today or tommorow.

Never thought I'd see the day when one of the most prestigious Ford tuners crossed enemy lines... almost as sacrilegious as a Lingenfelter Mustang.
I guess you can't be picky about platforms in this economy, but damn.
Good wishes to you with the new career and the new wheels
Also....Thank you for all your contributions during the time you spent here.

Congrats Kid......enjoy the 'stang... I just had a black one in my driveway....lol It was my son's latest girlfriend... Don't be a stranger, and I have a police buddy modding his stang, done did the procharger....can't wait to see his dyno, then spank him....

Larry - Thanks!
John- I appreciate your support for the mustang .. I would take a ******* Lingenfelter mustang over a Saleen any day though lol. It is kind of cool to see them crossing boundaries though, it's nice to spread the love lol.
Gary- Thanks! I appreciate all you do for the crossfire community, keep up the good work and stay classy
Doc- Thanks, I'll pop in from time to time.. I still want to see a turbo crossfire haha. What you and your buddy do behind closed doors is up to you guys
.. Prochargers on the 5.0 are no joke, the basic kit nets about 550 whp.. I already priced out a kit through the speed shop I work at and it's very reasonable, plus its available with a 5 year 100000 mile drivetrain warranty
.
On another note. I picked up the mustang yesterday and I'm in love. I'm not trying to rustle any crossfire owner's jimmies here, but here is what I noticed right away:
-The steering is much tighter and accurate than the crossfies although the turning radius is obviously not as tight
-The shifter is amazing! There is almost no throw at all, and it feels very tight and precise.
-The gearing is much more usable than that of the crossfire, I would always start in second in the crossfire because 1st was to abrupt fo my comfort. I have the lower rear gearing (3.30 I beleive) and am happy with it.
-There is much more room on the interior, although I will miss my orangey leather
-The handling is comparable to the crossfire, although I haven't pushed the limits yet. It is supposed to pull .04 G harder in the skidpad than the crossfire.
-The engine is probably the best part of the car, the torque is great and the sound of a v8 at 7000 rpm is amazing.
-The brakes are great, supposedly it stops from 60 in 103 ft.
-The traction control works flawlessly, Instead of bogging down the car it just minimizes wheelspin. I will actually leave it on in this car lol.
-When I hit 62 mph for the first time, I looked back in dissapointment when the spoiler didnt pop up
Overall I am very happy with my purchase. I did pretty much the same thing I did with the crossfire, as the car is a 2011 with 3800 miles on it. I got it for about $7,000 less than it was new and it might as well be a brand new car in my eyes. The only real option it has is the upgraded brembo brakes and wheels that go with that package, which I love. Here are some pictures, they aren't the best but my memory card was full and couldn't take more.
The last time I saw the crossfire

I wish I hadn't turned the front wheels for these but oh well lol:
