Doc, I'm glad you started this thread-I was a bit surprised it was so late!

Hats off to all of you Fathers out there.

And I sure miss mine. Great man. And teacher.

Thanks Doc, same to you and all the dads out there. Linda, my 3 daughters and my son in law gave me the greatest fathers day gift ever this year. I drove my coupe to Lowes motor speedway in Charlotte on Friday to particapate in The Exotic Driving Experience.

The track was a tight .75 mile layout with 2 ,too short straights, plenty of turns (some off camber) but with one saving grace. A glorious up hill sweeper with the top of the hill at the apex then driving hard down hill and braking for a 20 mph right hander.

I had signed up to drive an Audi R8 and then the Ferrari 458 Itialia. Wow I got chills again just typing the name. No Audi in the line up so I was offered 10 laps in a Porsche 997 380 hp Carrera. The Porsche was great fun and I was sweating pretty good from the 10 laps. A few other cars out and I was held up some.
my best lap was 00:52.35. I know many of you will call BS but I actually felt I would have been faster in my coupe. Top speed 68 mph

Next was the Ferrari. I don't have words to describe this car. If you ever get the chance to drive one DO IT!!!. 570 hp, 9000 rpm, ginormus brakes, the most amazing exhaust note , 0 to 60 3.0 sec, 1/4 mile 11.0, top speed 212. Sorry but I have to ask, Nick is this a super car? And the motor is under glass just inches behind your head.

I was started 3rd behind the Porsche 997 and a Lambo 570 hp with interval starts. (each car had an instructor) The drivers of those cars must not have been into it because I caught them on lap 2 and again on lap 5 and yes again on lap 7. I got two extra laps but with the interuptions felt like I could have gotten faster with back to back hot laps. This car was soo easy to drive fast, so compliant, if you had the guts to drive it in deep, hit the brakes just a touch and off then turn it where you want it to go it will not let you down. Best lap 00:41.60, top speed 88.

I was told this was the best lap of the day, but I bet they tell everybody that. My instructor told me I should come to their home track in Orlando. He said it was longer and much faster. If any one thinks this would make a good FL GTG I would be in in a second. Bet they would even give us a special rate.

Well after all this on the drive home on a twisty back road in the coupe I was moore than pleased with my car. Now I just gotta get thoes big brakes.
