Default R.I.P. Joey

My wife and I have just recently lost our 6 yr. old boy(Great Dane)to bone cancer. Joey is pictured in my avatar, was larger than life, and adored like no other pet we've ever had. We are having a hard time with it, but I'm told it is good to share about it with others.

Real sorry for your loss, I'm sure Joey knew he was loved. Had two Danes many years ago, a Harlequin and a Brindle, wonderful boys, I still miss them.
Take care, Steve

I'm sorry for your loss. We lost a pet very dear to us a few years ago, and I was crushed for a few days. We only started feeling a little better when we got another pug.

I always enjoyed that photo of him next to your Crossfire. So sorry for your loss. They are like family.

It's a hard thing.. like the loss of a family member. My "Dixie" ( "Red" Boston) loved sleeping with her head on the pillow with me. I buried her just outside my bedroom window. I saw this and had to share.. I now have a "Sophie".. and she's almost as sweet as my Dixie was ..

Thank you guys for your words, sentiments.
Our first Dane was a Harlequin, Joey was the replacement and soon became our star. We have met so many wonderful people that just had to stop us and meet him in our travels.

Bob

Life seems so much better once we let it go to the dogs.

We know exactly how you feel.
5 years ago, we lost our beloved 'Kobe', a 13 year old male Anatolian Shepard to cancer.
The very next day, we acquired TWO Anatolian puppies, Dakota and Mercedes.
It certainly helped us in getting over the loss, having 2 puppies running around the house ......

And every dog I have had, came with it's own unique personality. My dad was one who could bring out the personality of a dog unlike any other person, he truly had a way with them, and had one all but the last year of the 35 years he was in my life. (Dad knew he was going soon, and didn't want to leave a dog behind. So when his died, he didn't get another.)

Pets give UNCONDITIONAL love. Always there, never too far away. Have had dogs in my life for as long (of the 58 years) as I can remember. Always when one passed, we rescued another. Get another, you'll love the companionship!

We can say this about two of the many dogs we have owned and at least 2 horses. They give so much and ask for very little in return. They can sure change a gloomy day just by the way they look into your soul. You think if this guy loves me so much there must be some good inside me.

The best thing is the wonderful memories will always be there to bring that smile to your face but the pain of there departure will fade with time.

That is such sad news. Losing a beloved pet can be as tramatic as losing a family member. Sometime's even more so.
