Smile Anything I need to know before getting a new crossfire?

Hello everyone! My name's Eric. I'm new to the forum. I've been looking for a new car for quite some time.

My options have been an RX-8, G35 or Subaru WRX. I came across a craigslist ad for a black 2004 Crossfire. The car has 50k miles, is in beautiful condition and I instantly loved it. He is asking 8800. Which slightly above excellent condition on Kelly Blue Book, but so far it looks to meet excellent criteria. He comes back into town from his 4th of July trip on Monday and we have arranged a time to meet to check out the car. The wait time has really caused me to sit on it, and after doing some research I found that it is basically a Mercedes. I avoided German vehicles when doing my car shopping on CL (BMW, Mercedes, VW) because the maintenance is usually ridiculous. I work at Oreilly auto parts and usually BMW's have some ridiculously priced and impossible to find part that needs to be replaced. But when I think about it, I don;t get too many people in for their Mercedes except for fluids.

So what I would like to know, is before I get this car. Is there anything I should be aware of? Such as certain problems with the motor or electrical, just any known problems that are common or expected? I would like to know if there is any known problem or any reason why I should or should not buy this car. Because I was going to get an RX-8 (because it seats 4) but then found rotary motors aren't expected to last all that long. Any info would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Eric

I was in the market when the first came out. One of the things that put me off was the massive discounts Chrysler were offering on what was a brand new model. Also the rip off service charges Chrysler dealers were making me pay on my Jeep.

$8800 for one with only 50,000 miles is quite a deal. Check what's in the link given in post 2, and do a carfax/autocheck and see if you can find anything disturbing in the car's past.

I think he ended up buying that one about a month ago. He has a thread going about some transmission problems now.
