My wife just showed me the headline on yahoo news. Strange considering he is known for the 'Fast and the Furious' movies where he was a 'professional' driver.

News story reported:

Walker was a passenger in a friend's car and both were attending a charity event for his organization,
Reach Out Worldwide, in Santa Clarita, about 30 miles north of Hollywood.

Getting that info now. Apparently the car was doing significantly more than the 45MPH speed limit on the street they were on.

I fell asleep on the couch watching the original F&F and woke up (with the movie still on) to a text about his death.. pretty crazy..

Some of you older gentlemen may not care much but I'll say that for my generation, him and the F&F movies had a profound impact on us "car guys" and "tuners". My interest in cars evolved naturally as a kid, having Countach and Diablo posters on my wall, playing the original Need for Speed games... but that first F&F movie really made me want to get into the scene..

Just thought I'd get it out there.. I'm not one to care much about pop culture or celebrities but this one actually got me a little

This is truly tragic.

I must say, it makes me think twice about a porche. That tree isn't a big one and from the looks of what's left of the car, the car just disentigrated. I acknowlege speed can do a lot of damage on it's own but I would have thought to do that much damaage the tree would have had to be quite a bit bigger.

Fire is pretty devastating to Carbon Fiber. Plus CF doesn't bend, it breaks and shatters.

I would say they were deceased long before the fire. Too bad. I am an old guy and I have enjoyed all their movies...they were far fetched sometimes, but entertaining to say the least. He was a good guy, enjoyed cars, racing and gave back thru his charity... Big lose to the car scene...I read that they were test driving it as it was stalling out when they were moving it around. I would say something failed big time...

Not sure if anyone ready Autoweeks article on the Carrera GT
Carrera GT: Even Jay Leno can't make it funny - Autoweek racing Car News - Autoweek
Sounds like that would not have been a fun car to drive, let alone at speed.

I was reading today, the report stated driver died instantly but Walker may have felt the heat before expiring. Not a way to die regardless of who you are. Although it wasn't for long. That is one of the worst crashes I have seen for awhile. STEVE, you better sell that Porsche.....yellow isn't your color....
