Better get your story straight as to why you are coming here and why you have tools. No one can come here to work without a temporary work permit, (exactly like USA) if they see tools they will think you're lying and will probably call the people your coming to meet up with in Canada and will ask them why you are coming to see if you are lying. If you are caught lying, you will be fined, shipped back and not allowed to re-enter for at least one year.
Check out the CBSA site : Non-Canadians

What I posted applies to ANY international travel, which I happen to do a lot of.

Exactly, that's why if I drive in I have a perfect explanation for everything I'm bringing. I have been studying the CBSA site like crazy.

But there is no way you will get away with 'fuel', or at least I would not think you could.

We ship a lot of our stuff ahead, but then, we don't often leave the country. Getting stuff like that thru customs can take a few days.
We ship items to canada for factory repair and it is NOTHING to see it take a week or more to go one way from Atlanta to Toronto or back.
Shipping ahead would be expensive. I've already been through it to where I'm visiting. For confirmation and security it's $65 for a 1.2 oz small flat rate enveloped package. That is 1-3 day shipping though.

I don't need fuel though, I'll buy it there. I just need to get the iron through.

Buying butane was expected, it's usually pretty cheap anyway.

Electric iron's wouldn't work. I need my fancy schmancy butane for hot air.

I was joking, get it? Can't get supplies here, I asked what is electric because we are so backward here in the third world.
Any trouble crossing the border here all you have to do is eat your passport or whatever you are using, and ask for political asylum. Before the day is out you will be on welfare, have a place to live, be given warm clothes and have lots of money heaped on you so that you do not have to bother to work ....... ever. After a while you can bring all your relatives and Canadians will work even harder to support them as well.
