Default weather

Starting the New Year out with 4 plus inches of snow this morning. Great. I get to return to work Monday and reality has set in. Back to fighting the slick snowy roads of the mid west. At least the XF's got a breath of fresh air earlier in the week. It will be awhile before they get another one. How's everyone else faring this winter?
And yes, I know how you Floridians are doing....lol

Georgia is having a wet, cold-ish winter. I'm getting sick of it. Low tomorrow of 22 and high of 35.

I know that does not sound bad to you, Doc, but we've had a lot of 50's and 60' over the winter in years past.

It has not been too bad here in PA. Had both Crossfires out last week for a run. No snow on the ground right now but they are calling for 1"-3" tonight.

We were hit with about 10" of snow between New Years eve and new years day. I think this is the same system that's hitting you, and moving towards the east coast.

Hey Paul - Are those temperatures with the wind chill factored in? We have the same in Ottawa - where are you from?

John - they are official temperatures. Windchills are close to -50 at times. I'm located close to Timmins.

I knew someone would cheer me up....although Sunday, we are looking at a possible 10" and then hitting the deep freeze at 15 below...but not the 50 below you are having...stay safe out there....just can't wait to jump back into trucking in this crap....I guess I will be an ice road trucker for awhile...lol.

That beats us Paul - the temperature I gave is with the wind. It's comforting to know that this will be the warmest night of the year. We're sitting around -28 tonight. But Timmins is a little further up than us - at least it's not Winnipeg.

There is always warm weather for you in Texas!
It might warm up to the "freezing mark" here today or tomorrow! Just enough to make a slushy mess then freeze again over night...

This is what we put up with the 100 days of summer (utility bills go up and you don't go outside unless you have to) for.

Am surprised the aussies haven't chimed in.

ps have lived in DFW and the whole metroplex shuts dows if it snows (or rather "ices"). Also have see over 40 degree swings in one day.

In the Canada we can have the furnace on in the morning and the air conditioner on in the afternoon, we call that May.

Well, our predicted winter snow storm just got under way. We have about 2" right now and big flakes coming down. 32° right now outside. I guess we shall see if the 12" snow and below freezing temps happens.

We already have about 8" of snow this morning with the storm not even due to hit later this evening. Another 8 inches due by tomorrow morning.

Accuweather say that, for here in north Georgia, we will see a low tomorrow of 2 and Tuesday of 14.

I've lived in GA since August of 2000. The coldest I've ever seen it was 16 in January of 2001.

So far, no predictions of any precipitation.

I have a question: If not for global warming, how cold would it be?
(I mean, since record highs are supposed to be an indication of GW)

Well, I think it is just another weather pattern myself. Temps are dropping. 16° right now heading to below 0 by morning. Winds gusting to 30 mph, so we will have drifting snow by morning. I think I will just sleep in.
