Default Oil change and shop trouble/rant.

I took my XF in for an oil change and a "once over" right before my road trip from Indy to Charlotte last month, to my normal Eurocar shop here in Indy... These guys come highly recommended and have been VERY good to me so far (with wheel bearings, advice, tracking down proper parts, et cetera) and got a mechanic I hadn't seen before. Naturally, since this is my go to shop I wasn't even remotely concerned. They do the oil change. $180. Ouch, $50 or so higher than I expected, but whatever.

Normally, because I'm picky/OCD/paranoid I check the fluid levels. I didn't this time, preoccupied I guess. Well now, a month and 1000+ miles later it occurred to me I haven't checked my fluids recently. Check the oil and it's at least half a quart over.

Not sure how big of a stink to make over this but I'm pretty miffed at the moment.... How hard is it to follow the manufacturers specs or check the $&#*% dipstick? When I worked at a shop they were so worried about it they made someone else check off on the oil levels. I guess I'm going to be giving them a talking to tomorrow and start doing my own oil changes again...

@ $180 a pop, I'd definitely be doing my own. That's more than dealer prices...

I was floored. Everything else they've done was top-notch and cheap. Like a third of dealer prices and half of prices elsewhere. It's probably good they were already closed when I noticed today...
