Default weather stripping

Hello,

I've been jealousy living through you all for a while now and finally decided to look for my very own. Today, I test drove an '08 Roadster, 58K mi. A beauty!! I am hoping to get the insight and knowledge from all of you veteran owners. The weather stripping where the convertible top meets the car (kinda u shaped. I guess that's it) was made of what looks like black tape and one section is not lying flat. It has creases or bunches in it (several, together, about 8 inches of space). When I asked about it, the salesman said that he thought it was a natural wear or from the top rubbing it. So, when I got home, I took a closer look at a friend's Audi that is also a convertible- no bunching and it was made of rubber. Is tape the right material? Is creasing or bunching normal? I wish I'd taken a picture. The car is about three hours away, so I won't be able to get one soon, so I'd really appreciate any insight that you can provide.

This may help. Go to the top of the page and get into the roadster section then look down the thread list for this: Chrysler to Replace '05 Convertible Tops Under X31 - YAHOO!!
I'm not sure if it is just the 05 model year or if that has been expanded to all the tops.

Many, including maxcichon have removed that tape and polished out the area.
Max did it years ago, there does not appear to be any paint degradation were the bow rests.

Thanks All,

I was actually inquiring for a Crossfire that I test drove, but didn't purchase. Right after test driving that car, I found my car... (currently no issues with the tape, but I will def remember these suggestions)
