Help with imobilser mystery
G'day fro Oz
04 Crossfire
I lost my only key
I have had several key experts look at it to no avail got new key from needwings in USA I sent vin number ect
new key would not work starts and stops and after 3 attempts you have to disconnect battery annd start agains.
The so called experts here in oz are no help looks like imobiliser is faulty i have checked RCM looks ok
Am i correct with following asumptions
1. New key coded to Vin should be plug and Play
2. The chip in the Key is recognised by the ring around the lock mechinism
passes info to imobilser it sends message to ECU its ok to Start .
if not the right info then RCM cuts fuel off
Question
1. Does key have to be programmed into imobiliser 2. Does key info have to be programmed in ECU as well
3. if i buy second hand key and imobiliser from a wrecked car should it plug and play or do i have to buy ECU as well
thanks
Graeme

The keys are plug and play as far as starting the car, you may or may not have to program thee fob to remotely open the doors.
If the keys chip is not correct the electronics do not work after the wrong code is received. Obviously the fuel pump will not work at that time but nothing else does either, so it is not the fuel pump alone that quits and fails to start the car otherwise the car would run longer.
You would need the ECU as well, possible problems are that the VIN read would not match the one on the car and the mileage would not match the cars actual mileage.
When you buy an SKREEM and or fob the mileage is set at your cars original VIN key codes and mileage as needed.
I think what I have said is all true, if not others will be glad to correct me.
Yes, you'd need: Key, SKREEM and ECM from the donor car. You then transplant the tumblers in the ignition switch from the donor car to yours OR you transplant your key's blade to the donor key.
But did you contact Rob at Needswings? Perhaps a programming error was made with the new key.

Yes, but if someone changed the Skreem before this shouldn't work.
This works only with a virgin Skreem, your Skreem has 8 keys preprogrammed.
No, if the Skreem accept the key it will unlock the imobilizer.
Plug and play only if you buy all 3 parts from one car. I will be able to program your ECU so that it woks with a set of key and skreem (from one car) but I'm from Germany so I can't help you yet.
Please look, that the ECU has the same part number as yours otherwise you could get trouble with errors with the transmission between the control units or if you have a manual stick your car wouldn't start with a ECU from an automatic transmission.
