Default Help with video clips please

My security camera system records mp4 to the NVR in 30 minute clips. Can someone point me to a simple program that will allow me to take a 1 or 2 minute clip out of it and save? Instructions would help as well.

Thank you! James

AVIDEMUX is free and should do what you want.

Install it.
Make a copy of the video to be on the safe side and open the cop with avidemux.

If you wan to delete from the beginning to certain point to keep the small clip area then click edit and select mark A.
If you wan to keep from the beginning and start deleting elsewhere move to where you want stop saving the video and click edit and select mark A.

Then move the slider to where you want to stop deleting and click edit and select mark B.

Now select edit and choose delete. You just eliminated everything between A and B.
Now change AVIMUXER to MP4MUXER in the pull down at the left side of the screen that says video output.

Now click file at the top and choose save and enter the name for the new movie.

Thats it. After you pick the name it will make the new movie for you.

Great help! A question? If you want the filename to be just a shorter .avi, (step 6 @ "Now change AVIMUXER to MP4MUXER ...") is this step the same to produce just a shorter .avi file as an avi file? Appreciate the help!

When I fired it up to make the instructions I tried the avi option and it worked but I couldnt get what it saved to play. Error out.

So I tried it as mp4 since that was the format most dashcams are in and it worked so I gave the instructions for mp4. You can try the avi and see what happens.
