Post Something Random (No politics)
TO MY CROSSFIRE FAMILY:
I’ve been a member of this community since July, 2009. The friends I have made and the family I found have been amazing. Recently, I have been diagnosed with a very serious condition with my back. In order to give myself a reasonable chance at a ‘good’ quality of life now and in the future, I must face realities.
#
The reality is, driving long distances in the car are now out of the question. I have known the Crosssfire seats challenged my back for 15 years. The degradation is to the point now that I must take daily measures to protect and help my back.
#
To this end, the car will be sold by spring. I plan to keep my manuals, notes and wiring diagrams and continue to support this community on a technical level. I plan to fly into some events, perhaps help with activities, and certainly spend time with lifelong friends. Even riding any distance over maybe a mile or two is something I am not longer willing to risk, so no, I wont be a passenger, navigator or “co-pilot”; I wish I could tho.
#
Over 15 years, I went from not being able to keep up with even a moderate group, to running with sport bikes on the Dragon. I’ve led meets, I’ve led groups, I’ve met an awesome bunch of wonderful people - all brought together by the common fascination of these cars. This may have been the best time of my life.
#
As to the car, many know, I have a $3500 hands free commercial Kenwood two-way radio it in, which makes it possible to lead a group, shift gears, talk on the radio and never take hands off the controls. The car will be offered for sale with this radio. If there is no interest in this, I will remove the radio and sell it separately on a commercial radio forum where I can get the money it is worth. But I’d LOVE for someone to buy this car a “Take the Lead” at various meets, in my place.
#
I post this now so that my car sale posts are not derailed by discussions of “Why, Mark?” Let’s get that out of the way already. I’d like to say, I have needed help recently, and the Crossfire community has helped, as my kids are 1000 miles away. (That is going to change as well.) What I am saying, one more time, is that this bunch of friends is outstanding. Some of you care about me more than my church ‘family’ cares about me; and that fact is NOT lost on me at this time.

Mark and I have had some discussions recently and I understand his situation.
I as well as many others wish Mark the best getting through the physical issues he has.
We have been friends many years and we are the 2 active admins on this forum.
I expect he will still be with us here online and wish him the very best going forward

Mark,
Thanks for all of your advice on the forum.
Helped me a lot with my car.
Never met but liked your written word style and attitude.
Best wishes and thanks from Canada.

Prayers for some relief from your pain. For years I could hardly walk. There is hope. Best wishes and many thanks for all you have done and shared.
The American consumer - way more stupid than you thought. (This can't be real.)
Good question Pizza. My question is why didn't the builder do a two story with the garage part of the basement?
BTW, my BIL had a house that was built exactly like this. No idea why he bought it. His cars barely cleared the floor at the entrance. Come snow, he parked on the street.
Imagine, mowing the front lawn!
