And then there is (according to our local church flock who also are receiving the wrath of entitled children), the never ending duty tasked to grandparents that have to be available for babysitting or childcare at the whim of the grandkids' parents. Being ex-military, in way too many contacts with friends country-wide (and again locally within our church member grandparents) so widespread in the taskings of the parents (our children) so as to be a burden brought about as a sense of entitlement. Way too many ask of themselves, where they went wrong and why the grandparents cannot live a life themselves and just have a visit maybe three times a year vs every week or so and sometimes weeks at a time, on a moments notice. We grandparents ask where we went wrong, or is it just a society-wide change. Gone are the days of looking forward to spoiling the grandkids and giving them back to mom and dad, now it seems society expects us to raise the grandkids in place of the biological parents (believe it or not way too many are burdened like this and just have a feeling of nowhere to go except to say 'NO', and then the result of being locked out of the grandkids lives by entitled children)... .
Me, I speak neither Italian or Spanish.
However, we are raising our grandkids.
We call our arrangement "a spoiled single child."
Growing up is hard to do, especially when Grandma offers to step in and bail you out every time you fail.

In many societies, especially Latino and Italian, that is normally how it is done. Kids go to work and grandparents raise the young-ins.
Me, I speak neither Italian or Spanish.
However, we are raising our grandkids.
We call our arrangement "a spoiled single child."

Although personally it is a sad commentary as we are having this kind of trouble as are many around here (son doesn't contact, stationed overseas, has 2 kids, divorced (we don't even know it our son has contact with his ex, and we don't have any contact from his ex in Texas which means the grandkids may not even know of us). We did the best we could and still it seems this kind of behavior is typical of this generation? Yep, SAD world we are in nowadays... .

I'm 65 and working 50-55 hours a week. This has to stop!
Im working on building a new team at work - one that I hopefully can get running smoothly in 3 years, then I shall retire.

I miss posting here.
I am 65 and working 50-55 hours a week. Im building a new team at work, I hope to get it running smoothly in 3 years, then I shall retire.
Unless I become disgusted, in which case I will walk away.........
