Why isn't Fallon getting his job instead of Jay Leno's?

I gotta think CBS regrets they don't have a Fallon in the wings ready to take Letterman's place. I'll hand it to Leno, at least he's gone out on top and didn't ride a dead horse.

And for those who foolishly think they might be higher on the evolutionary table....
!0 Years on MARS and still going. So we, the USA, can build a car that will last past the warrenty date.

10 Years on Mars: Opportunity Still Roving This artist rendering released by NASA shows the NASA rover Opportunity on the surface of Mars. Opportunity landed on the red planet on January 24, 2004, and is still exploring. Its twin Spirit stopped communicating in 2010. (AP Photo/NASA)LOS ANGELES (AP) — A decade after landing on Mars, the rover Opportunity is still chugging along.
Sure, it has some wear and tear. One of its six wheels and two instruments stopped working long ago. It has an arthritic joint. Its flash memory occasionally suffers a senior moment

re: Post Something Random (No politics)
Highs Wednesday here are forecast at over 70F. I want Wednesday off, so I worked today.
I'd been told our BLE Beacons send out a 1 millisecond pulse on each advertisement. That seemed awful long to send what little data we are sending. I was also told the advertisement went out three times on all three channels.
All wrong. As you can see from the capture, the pulse is on the order of 450-500 microseconds long. And there is clearly one pulse per channel for each advertisement (tho that is not all that clear from this capture, tho you see only one pulse on that channel within the sample time).
It's not about me being right, it's about us understanding our product and I and my manager are SICK of people who express their guess/opinion as fact. We are SUPPOSED to be engineers here.
Now, it IS fun to have access to equipment that can do anything I want to do, or to measure anything I want to measure. THIS is why I'm not in a hurry to retire, I get to play with stuff I'd never be able to if left to my own resources - this spectrum analyzer runs $5000 used, let's not even guess what they paid when it was new.

Many say that "If mankind is the only intelligent life in the universe, then the universe is a terrible waste of space". But the universe is a terrible waste of space, anyway. Consider:
If the solar system was scaled down to a point that earth was the size of a marble, the sun would be 4 1/2 feet in diameter. That puts the earth in orbit 579 feet from the sun. (This is explained in the video I linked to below).
So, I did some math on my own and came up with the following:
The sun is 1 "astronomical unit" away. Our nearest star, Proxima Centuri is 4.25 light years away, which equates to 268,770 AUs.
That means that in the scale of the solar system where the sun is 4 1/2 feet in diameter and the earth is a marble - our nearest star is 268,770 times 579 feet away. SO..............
The sun would be 579 feet away.
PRoxima Centauri would 29,473 miles away.
Again, the universe is an EMPTY place. But it is an inconceivably huge place as well.
