Default Extra cigarette lighter

Has anyone either installed or had someone install extra "cigarette" lighters in the glove box/arm rest?

I got a two outlet splitter and gutted the plug side where the fuse goes and soldered in some heavy gauge wire (heavy extension cord). I then tapped it into the hot from the seat heater circuit (always hot) and let the two outlets come out behind the driver's seat.

This corrected two problems I had.

1. Cigarette lighter outlet in the Crossfire powers off when the car is powered off.

2. Cigarette lighter circuit does not carry enough amperage for my laptop (popped the fuse).

Works great!

is there any way to add another cigarette lights, without replacing the fuse wtih a high gauge wire, what would be the most simplest way. i hate having a visible car charger, i want a hidden outlet, whats the best way to do this...

Ahem....here's a different solution....I purchased a "spare" center console cover piece from a roadster, which has an "extra" hole for switch for convertible top. I removed switch from hole, installed a nice fabrik pocket, and I keep a chrome colibri lighter in pocket. Ok, a little over the top, I know, but I do get points for ingenious?

I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing, but I don't think there is enough room for the housing. I had the console off to install a jack and switch for my ipod in the center console and if I remember correctly, the useless cup holder would have to go to get the cigar lighter in. I'm going to recheck and see what I can come up with
