Default Cup Holder Popped Out

Last night as I was getting out of my car I must have accidently pressed the cup holder as I reached for my briefcase. As I pulled my briefcase toward me (which was sitting on the passenger seat), the strap caught the cupholder and ripped it right out. I can't tell if it's broken or not. I tried for a brief minute to put it back in, but haven't got it figured out yet. Now I am considering replacing it with one of those little inserts that a cellphone can slip into.

There is a TSB about this and I think some of the members have been able to get the dealers to replace the cupholder with the "pocket" style because they are cheaper. They will only do this if the cupholder is broken. There's several threads about the cupholders.

There's a good write-up somewhere on here regarding removing & replacing the cup holder.
I had mine replaced with another cup holder under warranty when it broke a couple of months ago - but it hadn't been ripped out like yours.

It sure seemed to pop out easily. And just when I was starting to like it.
