Installation of Illuminated Door Sills
Search for previous threads, one thread (the one with changing the color of the lights) has pictures / etc on how to install them.

Just incase you may be thinking of a short cut of some kind. The two brown wire's are ground, the switch (butttons the door shuts against) that turns the sills on make's a ground when the door opens.
Bought my set of sills from Allen Samuels Chrysler, Mopar parts, when I saw member pictures here. Brought them to my dealer, Helfman River Oaks Chrysler--December '06, for installation. Sills---$330.00. Install--$120.00
No problems till 10 days ago
Noticed that the LED's go off after 3-5 seconds after door is opened. Brought them back to Helfman and after an hour wait they said it was a part problem. Something wrong internally with the LED's
Called Mopar, located inside Allen Samuels. They said because it has been 14 months they are out of warranty. (Warranty is one year or 12,000 miles)
Not happy ! Since the install I have only driven the car 5000 miles and has been in storage for 4 months since I have been overseas
Guess I am going to try to take them off and try to figure out the problem. Anyone have any other similar problems ??

Probably the relay (yellow box mounted behind the carpet behind the passenger seat). See if you can get just that part.
There are NO LEDs in the illuminated door sills.
Good luck.

danimal,
Correct, the lighted part is in fact electro-luminecent tape 1" wide. Check the link in my sig for the article greedisgood.
Cheers!

It was a long morning !
After telling the service guy at Allen Samuels that it could be the relay, and after they spent an hour looking elsewhere, they confirmed it was the "Relay" !
Now they tell me they cannot order separetely. Have to order the whole kit again !
Going out on the net to do some research but does anyone have any ideas on how to just get the relay. It has a part No on it but no manufacturer.

First, it's not a 'relay' it's a high voltage transformer. It puts thousands of volts (low amps) into the EL Tape so it will glow properly. If you listen you can hear it make a high pitched noise.
Second, they are correct, you can't just order the part for the stock kit. If you changed your EL tape like me, you could just order another one.
Good luck!

Dear TL
Thanks I just gave them a call about the tape &"transformer". (Left a vm)But correct me if I am wrong on this.
The transformer from the EL tape co is NOT a direct replacement for the stock item from Mopar ?
I would have to make changes, using your instructions on the web, in order to use their transformers ?
