Headliner dropped. Anyone?
I'm kind of amazed that in all my time here, and after doing a forum search, I cannot find any mention of this......
Overnight, the headliner over my coupe's passenger seat has totally collapsed and now droops down. The adhesive that held the cloth to the ceiling has just lost it from the spine to the window.
Has anyone else had this happen to their coupe? And is it a big job for the dealer to fix?
I'm sure it's covered under warranty and all, but I fear there will be handprints, smudges, ripples, wrinkles, or worse all over it when they're done.

ANYWAY I am sure the dealer is just going to toss it anyway (the fabric or the headlinner with the fabric on it) I could really use the fabric from the headlinner for our pillar pods, because it is impossible to find and impossibe to match. PLEASE check with the dealer maybe they will let you rip it off and we can work $omething out, if so you would be a life saver.

Well, I brought the car in this morning. They have to order a totally new headliner and expect to have it there tomorrow. In the meantime, they're keeping the car to remove the old headliner in advance the new one's arrival. It looks like I won't get my baby back until Thursday.
Frankly, I'm petrified that they will do more damage than good but I have no choice. The edge of the headliner material had even started coming out all along the windshield, even on the driver's side.
I asked the service guy if I could get the material from the old one and he said he'd see what he could do.
Hopefully my next post on this thread will be a happy one.

I had this happen on my coupe by the windshield and back hatch. The glue they use from the factory is garbage and once it comes loose it is almost impossible to glue back on because the headliner under the fabric is a yellow foam that falls apart as soon as you touch it....which means no glue will stick...
Good news and bad news......
The good news is that the headliner was replaced without incident. Looks like new and no harm done to anything else.
The bad news is they said they threw away the old one and it is gone.
Sorry Jonny.

I JUST POSTED A HELP REQUEST FOR THE SAME PROBLEM IN THE SRT FORUM BEFORE CHECKING HERE.
MY '05 IS REACTING TO THE HEAT IN BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA AND SHOWING ''BUBBLES'' OF DETACHMENT BY THE SUNVISORS, WITH SOME DETACHMENT AT THE CORNERS OF THE WINDSHIELD.
WHAT THE OTHER POSTS DO NOT MENTION IS THE DEALER COST OR WARRANTY COVERAGE IF ANY....

I brought mine in to the dealer yesterday and they will replace the headliner under warranty. The downside is that the headliner is on national backorder and they did not know when it would be available. When I bring it in to have the repair I will be sure to ask if I can have the material from the old headliner.
