Probelm with ashtray... stuck. need help
Hi,
I have a probelm with my ashtray that I have only used for stocking my coins. It is blocked inside and I can't open it any more.
How is it possible to open it? Do I have to take all the different panels of and how can I do it? Are there screws? Any tips?????

Maybe the ashtray has popped up inside and is blocking it from coming out.
You could try pushing something flat (plastic putty knife?) in the gao at the top of the ashtray in the console and see if you can push it down.

That is what I am thinking also, but the only probelm is that it will leave marks on the plastic.
so I am thinking of maybe getting the central peace of (next to the ashtray, where you have the airbag button in the US cars) and going that why... But How to take that piece of????

Same thing happened to me......first piece of advice.......don't put coins in it!
I just worked mine a little bit back and forth. It bought me enough room to remove some of the offending coins. Then drive it a bit, and repeat the process. At times I got a little agressive with it, to the point that I figured it would just break, suprisingly, it didn't.
As a final step.......DON'T PUT COINS IN THE ASHTRAY!!!!!!

take a plastic knife and raise the panel below the ash tray,, in front of the shifter raise it up and reseat it , the ash tray will now open ans close also check the shifter ring and see if it was installed backwards if it is correct there is no clearance under ir if one end sticks up anywhere it is backwards
the problem is the panal below the ash tray is not installed correctly or has come loose (up) jim

I'm a smoker........I occasionally smoke in my car.
I NEVER use the ashtray, and only smoke with the windows (and usually the roof) down.
HAHA.....punched big 'ol holes in that theory huh!

Thx for all the reply's....
I smoke also but never in my car... I have done it ones and only with the top down
I use it for coins because the slots made for coins in the front are two small for euro coins
I have there maybe 7 or eight coins now so it is never full. So it can't be stuck by them... I have to try the plastic knife....
I was thinking of taking the center panel of and try thta way but I don't know how to take it off. and I am a little scared of braking something... Finding those parts afterwards would be really hard in Finland. So if I break something It will be for a long while a hole in the board.
Hope I won't brake it and lets see what happens with the plastic knife... First I have to buy it.

My problem was that a coin bounced up in the back of the ashtray, and locked itself into place so I couldn't open the darned thing!
I only had a few in there as well......looks like your roads must be as bad as ours!

HI,
i succeded on opening the ashtray... the probelm was not the coins or the ashtray itself but the mechanism is cracing.... I hear a crac crac when opening it... I think that there might be a problem with the spring that push the whole thing out.
How is it possible to disconect the whole thing from the board?
How is it attached?
Cheers

Go to section 23 page 180 and it tells you how to remove the ash tray, I hope this helps.
