Default rear strut brace?

Hello I've had my XF for a year now and I love it so far but I think its time to make it mine instead of having an all stock car.
Whats that huge brace behind the seats? is it a strut brace? Has anybody removed it and put a good looking brace?

Presumably by 'brace' you mean the rear bulkhead?
If so... I think it contains the gas tank, bass speakers depending on stereo system. It probably adds more strength and rigidity to the vehicle than any other brace out there. I STRONGLY recommend NOT removing that piece of metal.

You looking for added power or going for looks?

I read somewhere that this was used to strengthen the convertibles and in a coupe it makes the body really stiff. This is a structural body member of great importance.
