There is a long, complicated thread in the Forum about how to remove the cup holder. I think you've found a quicker way.

It was definitely a handy spot for my wallet in my base coupe... now the cupholder goes overly unused...as in never used, never opened.

Call your dealer and they will order it for you...

Or someone with an online parts connection can give you a price.

Before Chrysler was taken over by the Federal Gov, you cold get the dealer to install the bin for free. Not sure if they'll still honor the TSB now. That is if you still find a dealer.

You sound so disillusioned, inferno. Just wait until you see the new and improved Fiat green cars to be rolled out by Chrysler. For one, I'm on the edge of my seat with dubious anticipation.

I broke mine a month or more ago. Replaced it myself with the "wallet-sized" storage bin.

Dealer sold it to me at a discount because, as the parts guy said, "I don't have the GUTS to charge you $66 for THAT".

I learned a LOT about my little car when I took the console out to replace the cup holder. Overall, it was a good experience for me. There is a thread about it here, somewhere.

Bought the bin on ebay for $24. Painted it silver to match the interior. Check my gallery for a picture.

Is there a way to remove just the back piece of the cupholder with the 2 wings that open? Is there a way to do it without removing the console. For some reason when I bought my car used it had a spare in the glovebox and Viola I broke it.

If you have a coupe, just remove the console. It's a piece of cake.

It's simple to remove that piece but it will be difficult to put the new piece in because you have to put the spring in a certain way.

Rekcah is bang on! To remove console:
1) remove shifter bezel
2) apply parking brake, pull off handle rubber sleeve
3) remove 4 center console screws(2 @ front and 2 in storage bin under carpet)
4) as you pull up slowly, disconnect the power mirror sw harness and Roof control sw if so equipped.

BTW, if anyone has that little spring handy, I am in need of one
