Interior door pulls delaminating
The interior door pulls of my 05 cf are delaminating (finish flaking off). Is anyone else experiencing this and is there a way to recover them and keep it in check.
Thanks

Their were others who wrapped it in leather, by winding a strip around just like an old golf club or tennis racket.
Others laced a leather piece in place.
While others stuck a fuzzy piece of Velcro along the seam.
I like the winding idea best.
Some people have cut their hands badly on the flaking finish, so be careful.
From what I've been able to find using Google, auto body shops generally tend to fix this type of issue by sanding all of the chrome coating off of the part, and repainting the part with a chrome paint -- properly mixed with chemical modifiers that add a lot of flexibility to the paint. Then, with a good layer of clear-coat over the top to protect it, you wind up with something much like the original handle.
Mine was peeling on the rear seam and I sanded it down, but it is still peeling.

Might I suggest putting these leather wraps on the door pulls. They are made for the grab handle on a C5 Corvette and fit the Crossfire PERFECTLY. I put them on right after I bought the Crossfire, and have had no worries about peeling chrome or cuts to my hands...and the leather looks great and matches the interior. For $20/each, you really can't beat it, and it comes in a range of colors. They attach via a hidden velcro strip and it doesn't add a lot of bulk to the handle, which is nice.

My interior is all one color, not the two-tone. It's the dark slate color, and I chose black for the leather grab handle because I thought it would match the best. I didn't want to go with the silver or grey in case it didn't match or look right. I love the black and it doesn't stand out (in a negative way) at all. Hope that helps!
Mine started peeling as well. I scraped off the part with my fingernail and I figure when it gets worse I'll just stick a piece of duct tape over it. No one will see it anyhow.
Mine went bad about 8 months ago; I too smoothed them down and then placed clear shipping tape along the back side of the pull. The tape can't be seen and it has been working fine. I like OC Xfire's solution with the Corvette leather covers and ordered two in gray just today.
