Default Air vent problems

When I turn the Fan speed up to 4 or 5 and have all the air flow directed to the console vents, they won't stay adjusted and move upward, shooting almost straight up. This makes the AC highly ineffective. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Here in Vegas, it's critical all the air blows thru these vents. I can't afford to waste some directing it to the foot wells.

I'm going to bump this..........it's probably hotter by now for most of you.

Does anyone else have this problem when turning their fan on setting 4 or 5 ?

i have this problem with any setting, they are old and loose and the slighted imperfection in the road causes them to point upward. I would assume replacing them is the only option but i am open to suggestions... someone else has to have had the same issue.

To be fair, though, directing the cold air upwards is more effective than any other position as cold air tends to fall under warmer air. You're effectively creating a waterfall of cold air in the car. Nothing beats having it turned right at you on a triple-digit day after being in the sun for a good while, though.

Why can't you add some kind of interference to the spindles on each end on some or all the louvers ?
There must be some form of friction method now and surely it can be added to.

Take out the vent and look at it. That has to be cheaper if it is possible.
