Air conditioning only works when its ready, not when needed!
As I understand it, there is a hose that runs behind the battery( it needs to be removed to check it) along the firewall that seems to be affected by bat acid, etc. If it's bad( hole) then the mixing doors do not work properly, affecting the AC operation. The fix is cutting the bad section out and using a plastic connector in that area.
Regarding the A/C, I decided yesterday to check my pressures before the REAL heat gets here.
I have NEVER seen a car where you have to remove the grille to access a connector !!!
( FWIW, at 70 F I had 30-35 low and 100-180 high with fan on high, full cold on both dials and recirc engaged. )
I also noticed that the radiator fan was NOT on at all times, it came on intermittently. I had read that it is always on when the A/C is on.
