Double sided tape on Side of Console
I plan on sticking a piece of grey colored foam on the vertical surface next to the parking brake handle. My ring keeps hitting that plastic surface whenever I engage the break. I am worried over time it will look terrible. I purchased some outdoor scotch double sided tape to mount it. The package says that the tape is permanent. Has anyone had any problems with this product doing damage when it is removed from the car interior?

The tape will take the paint of the console, be warned. You'll be repainting the whole console rather than a few chips.
I placed a rectangle of adhesive-backed Velcro on the glove box door 3 years ago for my cell phone.
I removed it ~ 1 month ago. No damage. Not even a mark where it was.
The "adhesive" on the back was more of a tacky plastic than a glue. Do you know what I mean?

This is what I used. The "fuzzy" side. Which would work for the OP.

Divorce is not an option (wedding ring on left hand) although don't think I haven't considered.
I may go a different rout with velcoing a cell phone holder there as some have done. It will serve two purposes.

Dave, I know what you mean, but I think it depends on the type of tape.
