I found this spring laying on the bottom of the inside of my lower dash cover (near the driver's side) when I removed it today. I can't trace where it came from. Does anyone have any ideas where it might have originated from?

Thank you for this information. This spring is a likely candidate, as it is a tension spring also, and located in the same general area as my mystery spring. It is also #20 in this 2004 diagram: https://www.moparpartswebstore.com/a.../00i78179.html
But I have now checked, and this spring is still intact in my 2004 Crossfire. It is also somewhat larger than the stray tension spring I found. I will keep checking for awhile. Thank you again for your help.

I have finally located the origin of the "Mystery Spring". It is one of two springs which belong to the plastic steering column cover adjacent to the steering wheel. Mercedes Benz Part #1704600395, Chrysler Part #05098991AA. (https://www.moparpartswebstore.com/p...5098991AA.html). These springs keep the small inspection door on the right side of the cover closed. These were really hiding well! Thank you to Marc Matherne for pointing me in the right direction. Mercedes Benz 170 460 03 95
