Thanks Jane, both for setting this visit up and for posting the info...I am very familiar with area, and yes the McDonalds is on the North edge of Cloverdale IN...now, as I said, I have PM'd all that have had interest in an INDIANA Club, but this is an open invitation to all XF owners who would like to experience a day at the track...so ALL are welcome...So my IL and OH friends, this would be a 2-4 hrs trip for most of you that I know...you are welcome...

Oledoc:

Look forward to meeting you and other fellow drivers.

If anyone is hesitating about coming, please do come and check out the track and all it's activities. It is fascinating to see all these people who mess with their cars. Everyone is friendly and ready to talk with you about their cars and driving them.

Oledoc, I see in your signature you have had your car up to 158 on a (closed 1 mile run). How and where can a guy get a closed 1 or 2 mile run? I have had mine up to 186 on a 2-1/2 (only took about a mile from 70mph) mile strech of road where there are no roads coming on to it and can see the full length coming off a hill. I would really like to see if I can hit the 200 mark, but they just changed this road into a wet lands wild life reserve so it won't happen there. And I don't know of anywhere to do a legal flat out run, I even talked to a retired State Policeman that I know and he had no idea where I could do a flat out run. Except the place I was talking about, he grew up just a couple miles from there and said if you are going to run one up to that kind of speed that's the place to do it.

well, the tune put my parameters to 190...so, its nice to know it is possible and I did mine from a standing start...I can't get anything more than the mile and a half...two deputies stood by late one evening, radios and all, it was pretty easy for us actually...didn't even have any traffic to worry about as it turned out...they had a K-band and lazer they were trying out, and wasn't my county either...so not to get any of my guys in trouble...I was just willing help out....mine cut out @ that speed...before tune...haven't been able to try it since the tune...but, I will ask you can bet on that....

First post on forum but very interested in attending Putnam Park on the 21st. So we will meet at MCdees at 10 AM. I live in Morgantown so its not that far. Raced in circles many years at Lincoln Park not too far away so this turning right and left will be interesting.

First I would like to say Welcome to the forum.
I also would like to say that I have met Jane and oledoc2u and they are some nice folks. You should most definitely go and meet the others if you live close by. I am sure you will be happy you did.

Anyway, Oledoc and I want to continue to invite all Crossfire owners to a day at Putnam Park in Mt Meridian, IN. Oledoc has set up a meeting place at McDonalds at 10:00 AM at I-70/US 231. I think this is in Cloverdale, IN. From there, the track is about 10 minutes away.
You will be able to hang out at the track and will be hosted by two of the Central Indiana Porsche Club officers. They will be happy to talk with you about High Performance Driver Ed. At noon, you will be able to drive your Crossfire on the track (without helmets and under 60 mph). After that, hang out and watch and when ready, drive to your next meeting place.

I think it will be a great get together for Indiana and other Crossfire owners. I know that I would certainly like to meet many of you that I see/read on the forum.

Let Oledoc know that you are coming. In the mean time, don't hesitate to go to Putnampark.com to learn about the track.

Jane Bridges

Just wanted to keep promoting this event. Looking forward to meeting other Crossfire drivers.

I really wanted to come to this little event, but the winds of IKE just tore the hell out of my property. I had no problems with the house or garage, but I'm 500 feet back into a woods and it will take me weeks to get things cleaned up. I still may try to make it if I get enough cleaned up to mow my yard before Sunday, I spent 3 hours after the winds died down Sunday just clearing my driveway to get out. I stayed home from work Monday, raked and picked up limbs all day and just barely made a dent in the clean up. Winds in my area was reported to be up to 70 mph, after all the raking is done I have several trees that are broke off about 12 feet up that I will have to take a chain saw to. IT JUST SUCKS BIG TIME.

You guys all have a great time at the meet tomorrow.
As it turns out my Charity motorcycle Ride for Autism is tomorrow.
I will be among more than 1000 motorcycles for a 120 mile escorted ride through many of the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
This is my 5th year participating in this event.
Some pics below from past years....and a link to my gallery

Doc and Decade 85 and friend: Thanks so much for coming to Putnam. It was a pleasure to meet you all and it meant a lot to me to have a little Crossfire support. I'm now back home. I did drive in the rain which was a great step for me as I've had a hard time at Putnam in the rain. No problem today. My tires really stuck this weekend; now just need to get these brakes right.

For all you Hoosiers and friends close by, I plan to be at Putnam October 25/26 for the Pumkin. Again, come on down and drive the track during lunch. Don't be afraid of this track. These High Perfomance Drivers Ed program are wonderful and a great way to learn how to handle your car. This type of driving is a bit more challenging than drag racing.

Again, thanks doc and decade85.

Jane

My "cute little girlfriend" blushed something terrible when she read that. In any case, I got some good video that I hope to edit together and get posted all over the place (you tube, myspace, putnampark.com, and here) either tonight, or more likely tomorrow.

It was great meeting you Doc, and Jane. I had a great time, and I will be going back to that park frequently in the future. If I had a few less expenses, I would love to join you guys in that, but for now I think I'll just keep enjoying the track tours.

Until next time.

I would have been there except for a few things. First, my daughter gave birth to my second grandchild, little girl. Second, I never got a PM notice about this. Am I on the Indiana list for future events? And last, my car has been in the shop for the good part of the last 3 months. POS engine just won't run right. What's it like to drive a xfire, I've forgotten.
