Default Trip to Aspen, Co., Sat. Sept. 20 ?

Anyone interested in a trip in September to Aspen? We need to start organizing it soon.

Saturday Sept. 20 Don't Miss This One!
a. "Color Weekend over Independence Pass to Aspen and Maroon Bells" Come with us to view the changing of the Aspen Leaves in the Colorado Rockies. We will drive to Aspen and ride the bus in Aspen to Maroon Bells, the most photographed spot in the Colorado Rockies.

If you would like to go drop me a note. Independence Pass closes October 1st for the winter due to inclement weather.

It is about 150 miles from Colorado Springs, about the same from Denver if we meet in Buena Vista. We will leave about 8am in order to get up there and take the trip to Maroon Belles. It is a very busy place that time of the year. Cost is $6.00 to ride the bus from Aspen Highlands.

You know I'm there. Did we want to do the overnight thing in Glenwood Springs?

I'm not sure it will work for me, we will have to talk about it. Glenwood Springs and the hot springs is enticing. It looks like it may be just the two of us, Otis said Saturday may not work. Let's stay in touch and work on the details in a couple of weeks. Maybe we can meet for breakfast somewhere. I dropped notes to all of our crossfire buddies but it seems we may be on our own. I will do a little research on the motels in Glenwood Springs.

Are you having fun with that new roadster? I detailed mine during last weekends rainy weekend.

Don't go into a whole lot of reasearch. We can just make it a day trip and that will probably just fine. Last weekend's weather was a great dissapointment! I'm going to clay bar, polish and wax it tomorrow to get the best shine possible.

Bump!
Looking at spending the night in Snowmass. I found a ski resort for $99 a night, it is 12 miles from Aspen.

Glenwood Hot Springs is about 40 miles down the road if that is something anyone would like to do.

Everyone is invited. Drop me a line if you are interested in spending the night.

Hey Guys, I'm new to Colorado as well as the forum. I've been admiring the xf since its concept debut, and I've finally managed to get my hands on one (04 Limited Coupe). I've been looking into some mods, but I am hesitant to jump in full force with anything only to not fully like it. Just wondering if you had done anything major to yours over the years and if there was a possibility of the new kid on the block seeing what the big kids were playing with.

Welcome to the world of Xfire and a great forum. I'm the old guy on the block in Colorado I think, I have a base roadster that is stock. I'm not sure many have modded out their cars in this state. There are a few of us that are regulars on the forum and would love to meet you. A couple of us are going to Aspen on the 20th if you can make it. What part of the state are you from?

I live in Denver out by DIA. The 20th sounds like it could be a fun trip, hopefully I can make it, I should be able to know for certain by the end of next week though... Just trying to survive Labor Day weekend first. How many people from the forum are in CO? Is everyone fairly spread out, or mainly around Denver?

Great trip idea. I am trying to get all my ducks in a row so I can make it up for this one. Super busy here at the resort still during that time, so its 50/50 for me. I think most of the crossfires are up on the eastern slope. Only a few of us here on the western side

lordofmalkier, if you would like to go out for an afternoon drive, please feel free to contact me. I live in the Parker area and love driving my xfire! I don't have any mods on mine except for the windscreen. Feel free to email me at itsky@itsky.org.

BC it would be great to have you out for this one. We still need to figure how wherewe are going to meet up. I think there is a gas station in Buena Vista that is right at the turn to Aspen.

lordofmalkier, maybe Itsky can give you an idea on where he is going to leave from. Olmar are you still looking to make it?

I wonder if anyone from surrounding states would like to hook up for this trip. I can work on overnights if anyone has a need.

Hey guys, I appreciate the warm welcome to your group. I'm really looking forward to the 20th so I hope it all comes together. Yeah, if I can meet up with you, Itsky, somewhere before we get too far out of the Denver area that would be good for me I think. I'm not sure exactly how this works for you guys, if we kind of snowball along the way, or if we just meet up at the destination and take it from there, but either way, I think meeting up would be best for me.

What we could do is meet on the south side of Denver (somewhere around C-470 and I-25) around 7AM. We could then drive down to Colorado Springs and hook up with blackberry at the Garden of the Gods at 8AM. From there, we make our way towards Aspen. We can meet in the Parking Lot Meadows parking lot or there is a coffee place just off of I-25 and Lincoln.

I also sent you a personal message with my contact details.

Sorry I won't be able to make this trip guys. My son has a football game that morning. I was hoping to see Evan's new convertible too.

Now if we could get BCThomas to make it over we would have four.

BC, work real hard to make it. We are going to spend the night in Snowmass. If nothing else you could drive to Aspen meet us there, then come back with us over Independence Pass on Sunday.

Any of you Colorado Springs, Pueblo or other Denver owners that are out there, should give us a try... We don't bite. lol Grrrrr

Kansas Wyoming or New Mexico isn't so far away, we would love to have you make it in also. Did I forget anyone....

Trust me guys, I'm trying my hardest. I even have to use some vacation time before october, otherwise I lose it. So I think that might be the extra little leverage that I need Based on when I can get out of here (telluride) I might stay the night in the Springs at my sister's house and meet up there
I have also told a new crossfire owner in town about this get together, and hoping to get him to come along as well. I think he has already joined the forum as well

BC, sounds like you may have all your ducks in a row. We will keep our fingers crossed that you can make it, just keep us posted. We are going to stay in Snowmass Saturday night. We will meet at the Garden of the Gods visitor center at 8am and drive to Woodland Park for breakfast at the Hungry Bear, around 9am. Then on to Aspen and a ride on the tour bus to Maroon Bells, cost $6.00. Remember to bring your camera as this is one of the true photo opportunities of the year in Colorado.

I just realized that the is a major rugby tournament on the weekend of the 18-21 it will be very busy up there.

Looking forward to a fun drive, pray for good weather.
