Default New England Damsel in Distress!

Hey guys...
well as you may have read i had a problem with my tire , in the front passenger this weekend.. well the saga continues.. I can not find a replacement tire anyplace.. TFT.. cant get one.. TireRack doesnt have them... NTB cant get any.. Direct tire cant get one..

So my question to you.. is Does anyone have a 225 40 r18 Bridgestone Blizzack LM25? Or know of a place i can buy one??? i have LOOK EVERYWHERE in this area.. If you have one used.. I am willing to travel to get it.. as long as it has some life left on it i would be willing to buy it from you.. I just need it to get me through this season until i can get one from the manufacture when they start producing it again..

Until then i am driving on this tire which vibrates.. ;( sucks. I was thinking of just buying two new ones for the front but i didnt want to mix and match brands...

anyones thoughts or help would be really appreciated! Im sure dinner would be in store if someone found this tire for me!

Thanks!

I found these on ebay they have 3 available they're not blizzaks but it's all you might find till next winter. Once winter tires sellout they usually don't stock them again till next season.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Miche...3756.m20.l1116

You should try to drive the car as little as possible with a wheel vibration........not only will you wear the tire out much faster (I know....tire's trash, big deal), but you'll also put a lot of stress on your front suspension, prematurely wearing out parts!

Thought i would update on this situation... I was able to get the tire today.. found out that it actually came from Ohio.. and there is only 1 other tire this size available in the country! It came from a firestone dealer.. the porche dealer in Norwood Ma came through for me! It took a lot longer to get it than i thought.. but its in my car now and i am going tongiht to put it on. I am shocked how difficult it was to get this tire.. who would have known!

now i pray every day not to get another flat.. knowing there are no more tires this year...

I cant wait for spring... my summers are going on.. April 1st!

Glad to hear that your finally repaired. Good info on the fix a flat as well, I carry tire repair kits and air compressors for the same reason, but had never tried the fix a flat and now won't.

Have to love Boston roads, so happy all of our tax dollars are so well spent, maybe they should tax us more?

Hopefully your optimism about no more snow after April 1st will pay off...Al Gore says so.

Jen, I posted a question on benzworld.org about your problem. This is the reply I got. I did BS a wee bit.

Tirefit Safety
I know Pennzoil had to pull its Fix_a_flat off the market due to its explosive compound in Feb 1999.

My friend was driving her SLK a few nights ago and hit a nail. She is very mechanically skilled. She fixed the tire (tread puncture not near sidewall) and brought the tire to Town Faire Tire to be properly repaired. They refused stating that the sealant compound deteriates the tire's rubber and makes it impossible to balance and dangerous to use.

My first impression was "Yah a $300 Blizzak on a Mercedes....ka-ching" Then I read the woes of Fix_a_flat and similiar compounds.

Does anyone have any info on Tirefit...it's scary because they no longer have a website and I've searched this forum for info,

Thank you in advance.

Do Not Do IT!, Ever!
What they told you was absolutely correct, but they did not finish the story.

ALL, yes ALL fix a flat compounds ruin rims! They start a cancer that will eat it's way to the sealing surface, then you are done.

Dismount that tire from the rim, use the mickey mouse spare for a few days.
At this point just throw the tire away, you can't get it clean enough to re-use.
Clean the rim completely, and I mean get all that stuff off, all.
let it dry a few days then remount with a new tire.

Luck
B
