Default tune up

04, 10% tints, 6sp. white alabaster here.

just purchased my xfire about 2 months ago at 19k miles. engine is a beauty, but was wondering what the prices were on a tune up? also would it be a better idea to service at the dealer or private mechanic? i see a little wrench icon whenever i start my car in the mileage gauge. any feedback is appreciated!

With only 19000 miles you should not need a tune up any time soon.
The wrench icon means it's time to change your oil and filter.
Use 8 quarts of Mobil 1 0W40 synthetic oil and a fleece filter is recommended.
After the oil is changed do a FSS reset by following these instructions.
The wrench symbol will go away til the next oil change is due.
Generally your oil changes are good for 7000 miles.
The car determines oil change intervals bases upon your driving condition/habits.

RESETTING THE FSS MAINTENANCE INDICATOR AFTER AN OIL CHANGE

1. Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position.
2. Within 4 seconds of moving the ignition switch into the
“RUN” position, press the reset button for the trip odometer
twice within one second. The display for the FSS service
request is activated for 10 seconds
3. During the 10 seconds the FSS service request is displayed,
move the ignition switch to the “OFF” position.
The FSS service request will continue to be displayed.
4. Press the reset button for the trip odometer and
hold.
5. Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position
6. Continue to press and hold the reset button for the trip
odometer (about 10 seconds) until the audible signal
sounds and the new start distance appears in the display.
The tool symbol should disappear at this time.

This was posted by Andrew in a previous post on the forum. (He has alot of answers to questions on this forum). Just read it thru several times before doing the reset. It sounds more complicated than it really is.

thank you so much! i bought my car used and there were no track records for maintenance that had been done on the car. the car did not come with a manual either so i purchased one online. any idea on how much a tune typically costs for the xfire?

I drove my '04 alabaster coupe 70,000 miles and I only changed oil every 5,000 appx. air filters, it ran as "new" when I turned it back to Chrysler. I think the 12 plugs are good for 100,000.
