My days of modifying cars are over. I was racing 57 Chevy's with front straight axles when I was 17 years old. (1965) Back then my Dad owned two gas stations and I had a blast including 12 moving violations in one year. One time I got three in one stop. I actually had a ticket that said in excess of 95 in a 45. In court the cop admitted he couldn't keep up. That was a 1967 427 corvette coupe. I just drive the speed limit and enjoy the crossfire.

Fall Dragon in about 6 weeks, can you make it down?
There is NOTHING like your first Dragon - and I talked to the Lodge on Thursday, there are still rooms available.
Im the official "Cult of the Tail of the Dragon" recruiter....

I travel for a living why don't we plan on meeting sometime. Let me know when and I will plan a trip. I am sure we will have a lot to talk about. I love cars and I am sure you do too.
Please PM me and we will get together.I'll take you out to dinner.
Chris.

I travel a lot, too. I deploy large radio systems nationwide, been on a plane 34 times this year (not counting vacation). For the next five months, if I'm not here in Atlanta, then I'm in Michigan at a nuke plant (down by Chicago/South Bend) - cept for Dragon weekend. I will be in your neck of the woods in the spring of 2014, we have a system going into a plant in Columbus that is connected with Honda in some way.
Dragon?
Seriously, we hold two of them a year, one in April, one in October. Fall is the BIG one (even tho the weather seems better in the spring).
Consider it if you can get away - it's a wonderful way to get to know your car! (That applies to me more than most, I was not a car guy AT ALL until the Crossfire came along in my life.)
Our best turn out is 70-some cars, not gonna make that this fall, unless we pick up 25 or so cars in the next six weeks. You'll make life long friends, we even have people coming back each year who no longer have Crossfires!
Oddly enough, "Chris" is what I'm known by in some circles.

The Dragon sounds like a blast! living about an hour from Memphis Tennessee I dont think its that far anyways... its held in Georgia right? I'd love to come this fall. Any idea how much money i would have to bring if i went? Just for gas and a room in particular, id like to be prepared. Im just 18 but this kind of this would be right up my alley!

Fontana is in NC, not Georgia.
The Dragon ( US 129 ) runs from NC into TN.
The room is $78 a night, unless you can arrange to share.
Food is kinda expensive, and not a lot of choices, as Fontana Village is 35-40 miles from anything.
Yea, but many are looking to share rooms. That saves a LOT right there. Eating at the grill saves a TON over that awful dining room at the Lodge, and breakfast at the gap is 1/3 of what it is at the Lodge. The restaurant on the Skyway run will feed you lunch for $10 including tip.
If money is tight, post in the Dragon thread for a room to share -that cuts over $40 a day off right there. Shorten your trip to just friday and saturday nights, arrive friday and go home Sunday and you'll spend under $400 all weekend, including the gas to get there and back. It will be a time you won't forget, and you WILL be back.
Memphis is 435 miles - that's only 7 hours away - we have people coming from Canada, Colorado and Seattle, you are right next door!
ALSO, there is a hotel in Robbinsville, about 30 miles away, with rooms for around $52 a night. Not a bad place, it's an option if you can't find someone to share a lodge room with, but I bet you can. Staying at the lodge means more time with us to talk, review the day's events and meet those in the GenCoupe bunch.
