Need help removing rock chips off my crossfire asap!!!
Hi my name is Steven, I am new to this forum... I have a 2005 Crossfire 330HP (RED) with some rock chips on the hood and bumper, I've been doing a lot of reading in the forum but cant find anything about rock chip repair... I saw a TV commercial this past Sunday on Car Crazy on the Velocity Channel for a company called EZ Chip Repair... I went to their website Ezchiprepair.com and looked around... the product looks good, so I went to google and read their reviews and they have mostly good reviews. So my question is has anyone in this forum tried this product??? I would love their feedback before I buy it... thank you
Make that three interested people.
Is this the product of a sales mans spiel?

Elementary my dear Watson :
You first acquire a SRT6, then you take it and about $3000 to a good body shop along with the paint code for
Inferno Red Crystal Pearlcoat.

Unlike the previous 3 post, I would like to know (as the original poster) if anyone has tried this product, or is there another product that someone can recommend to fix the problem.
Come on guys... his first post and he asking about a product, talking about the good reviews, a web site and he wants you to look into it...
Sounds like advertisement, I was just trying to hijack the obvious.

It all depend on how you want it to look & how many chips you have ! If only a few you can do it yourself otherwise if you want it to look great, go to a body shop !!! Just my 2 cents !
Most car dealers have a paint touch-up guy that works from a mobile van and comes around on a regular basis. Like a Dent Doctor. The best ones can fill and colormatch a chip and make it go away, the not so good ones will have you wanting your chip back. Check with some of the salespeople for names in your area and see who they recommend.
I agree that any re-spray should be done at the body shop. Long term results from a mobile guy are not so good.

I fill my rock chips with color matched paint using a disposable micro brush. It looks OK from about 5 feet. When I get enough of those ugly little paint bumps then I take it to the shop and let them fix it properly. Had the front touched up professionally 3 times now.
I generally don't believe in any sort of magic potions.

Hi Steven, welcome to Crossfires Anonymous. We are here to help you get over your addiction to all things Crossfire. LOL
Unless I'm mixing Ezchiprepair with another brand, you get something like watery paint and a few other items. You fill the chip with paint then wipe off the excess with something like a a paper towel or... If I'm correct, the chip is still there, but it is now the paint color.
Uncle_Al, which color matched paint do you use? Is it water based, lacquer, or single stage paint.?
My hood should be repainted, but I'm fairly good at touching up chips, and generally it's on cars that have either been painted with single stage paint or two stage ones but the base coat is not water based.
I have some black single stage paint, but I have no idea as to how it would react to the surrounding water base black.
Sorry to slightly steal this post, but if the best touch-up paint to use on the chips is found, that is what to use.
If someone is really into doing it correctly you have a pint of your XF's color base matched, and the smallest clear coat amount they will sell along with the hardener. The water base should dry in ten to fifteen minutes, but give the clear a couple of days. Then use 2500 or 3000 to smooth it out, then polish.
I think I've just talked myself into have my hood painted.

If you are going to paint the hood, paint the nose as well. I also had the gray grill painted to match the car. Looks real nice.
Uncle_Al, thanks. That tells me that the touch-up paint you describe will react just fine with the water base. How fast did it dry?
I have a number of very fine to medium size camel hair brushes that I use. Since my car is black, shouldn't be hard to match.
