It is possible that some of you might be a bit upset regarding this particular 2007 Ltd. XF coupe. I say this in that I've been scouring the Internet for a Black - sorry, for me that is the only color for these cars - but silver would be a fairly close second - and preferably with a 6-speed stick. About four weeks ago I found one in Texas that was black with stick, but had the bonus of black and cedar leather (that's what a XF brochure calls it) interior. I called and pretty much sewed it up over the phone. A few days later I emailed a friend with a few photos of the car and he emailed me back about 15 minutes later with the same photo of an XF that was currently on eBay - and being sold by the same company. There had not been one word of this when I was dealing with both the salesperson and head of sales.

Soooo, to make a long story a bit shorter, I hope none of you were one of the bidders.

I have to add that I'm not remotely a typical fairly new used car buyer - I've been driving my '75 Alfa Alfetta GT for a number of years. 4-cylinders, 5-speed, and maybe 130 HP. I only drove a XF when it was delivered a couple of weeks ago. Meaning I went from a 38 year old daily driver to a 6 year old one. Shades of Back to the Future.

I borrowed the dealer's interior photo and pretty sure you all know what the exterior of a black XF looks like,

While there are a few paint issues I need to deal with, the XF is everything I was hoping for and then some. I will add two unrelated things, I'd never even sat in an XF prior to the delivery, and that it has Brigestone Potenza RE050R tires. I checked out the cost of these tires. All I can say is Oy!

I want to add that I'm extremely grateful that this XF Forum exists and that it is quite active, considering the number of XF's sold in the US. I've been reading various posts for the past several months - and had posted one of my own when I was 'just looking' (on the Internet) - Internet tire kicking? And the response to my questions was very helpful.

On a more personal note, as you can see I'm located in Irwindale, CA, and work/live in my Alfa Romeo restoration shop. I currently have client's '58 and '61 Spiders in the shop. Definitely a boutique operation.

I originally wrote this shortly after the XF arrived. Since then I've replaced the dead hood strut, the iffy fan regulator, and made a mod to the the driver's side windshield wiper pivot pin's steady bar to keep it in place.

Jeff, I'm assuming the pulley is for a SRT6, mine's a Limited. Or am I missing something?
