Default New Member Need Help

Ok so about a week ago I started hearing a loud thump noise coming from the rear when ever I would put the car in reverse then into drive. I started looking up things on here nothing conclusive. A few days later I started hearing the noise more frequently mainly whenever I would decelerate thats when I decided I was going to have it looked at after Thanksgiving week. So Im on the interstate and Im decelerating around 60mph and this hard thumping sound seemingly with every revolution of the wheel. Then it happened... Heard a loud thunk ABS AND ESB light come on. and the car doesn't want to go forward. I pull to the side of road. My rear passenger rotor is sitting in my rim all wheel bolts are gone...I get it towed home buy new wheel bolts put the tire on and I dont hear that thumping sound there is a new sound like a plastic bottle being crushed.

I had it towed to a mechanic he said the wheel hub is stripped I was hoping he'd tell me more because I already figured that. I just bought a right rear spindle and hub assembly. Mechanic wants $400 for labor...Going to try doing it myself.

Did I get the right part? Or does this sound like something else?
What tools do I need for the job? (Biggest concern)
Should I be worried about ABS and ESB light?

Ok, I'm going to say what I'm sure many want to. Why, in Gods' name would you continue to drive the car when it is making sounds that distinctly indicate that something is wrong? I suspect the new bolts are too long and are contacting the emergency brake mechanism which would account for the crushing plastic sound. This issue is well documented here. Hope you get it worked out.

Take a bolt out of one of the other wheels and measure the new bolts against it.

I had to grind 3mm off my new bolts after going to AMG wheels with 10mm spacers. They made that exact sound on the first test drive so pulled them all off ground them down problem solved. You have most likely destroyed your emergency brake mechanism.
Learn from this! Never drive a car when you have something obviously wrong or you will likely make it worse and cost yourself time money and grief or even worse, get yourself killed.
