Just bought a 2005 Crossfire
Hi I just bought a 2005 Crossfire from my friend, it's the base model, love it, perfect condition, he up kept everything well and on time, has 117,000 miles on it, and the miles are 90% highway miles, I had a question I was looking at the euro charge tune, would you guys recommend that or do you guys think the cars engine is to old at this point for that?

Just make sure to bring it up date if your friend didn't. Meaning tranny fluid, if an auto, plugs should have been changed at a 100k if hadn't performed that service. Wires should probably at least be looked at, but with those miles I would replace them. The rest is common sense, as far as air filters, and such. Cold air intake upgrade will help as well if you want to go aftermarket. Just do all those things before the tune.... You don't want to have to go back and tune it again, although it would be free....good luck...welcome aboard. Don't know much about the 2.0 Darts...but, racing is fun, and winning is even better...

Haha yeah, and I don't think the dart can fit anything else in it like a supercharger, But I really like the Crossfire, Huge upgrade over my contour, I will have to get used to the smaller windows on it, it's technically my first car that I've ever owned, in my name, but it is nice to have the fastest car out of all your friends, then people want a ride in it haha, really looking forward to taking it to the cruise.

Your friends Dart has a Fiat engine.....nuff said.
For a big performance increase, I'd suggest a NeedsWings CAI. Not cheap, but is a proven 4/10's of a second improvement over stock. You may want to practice a little bit with your 6-speed before racing anybody. (It takes some getting use to).
Enjoy.

Welcome to the forum Justin, and congrats on your purchase. I have an 02 Honda with over 206,000 miles on it, so I wouldn't worry much about a well taken care of Mercedes engine.

Justin, I don't even have one but many here have done the installation themselves.
I don't drag race anymore and the "stock" Crossfire performance is just fine with me. But the NeedsWings performance is well documented here on the forum, and anything that can knock off nearly a 1/2 sec. in the 1/4 mile is well worth it. That's why it's the 1st. mod I tell everybody to make when ever they're looking for higher performance.

He has a base model.. not a 6. The tune would be at the top of my list personally. Below is from Needswing under SRT6 add...
Our original Cold Air Intake Kit is a beautiful piece, customers have seen up to 35whp gains and 0.2-0.3 tenths improvement in their ¼ mile ET’s.

I know the CAI costs more than the tune, but I think it offers greater (stand alone) results. Of course, installing both is the best way to go.
If I cared about drag racing, I'd have both mods on my car. But other than pulling hole shots on people at traffic lights, and having fun at the Dragon, my racing days are over.
Mr. M, I'm going simply by what 1/4 mile results I've read here on the forum. Gary's times were just under a 1/2 sec. improvement with his automatic, and no other changes except the NW CAI (if I remember correctly). Steve noticed the same improvement on his 6 spd. roadster, and I think I've read about other's who had similar results as well.

Much like you - just having a little fun here and there is good for me. I've spent a little time looking for N/A "hardcore" performance gains from the intake and haven't seen any myself. Everything I've found just points to the 6. We all know the OEM is restrictive.. but testing on the N/A just doesn't seem to be any real priority. Even the 74mm TB upgrade comes with a decent guestimate and general consensus .
The only upgrade mine has is 2 K&Ns, and it does the 1/4 mile in 15.0 at least that's the best time it ever got, I'd like to do the needswing and the tune, but the needswing I may have to find someone to put it on.
