Default New Crossfires - Mine and Hers

Hello everyone from Parker, Colorado! My wife and I just purchased 2 Crossfires. She picked up locally a mint 2005 Inferno Red Crystal Pearl Roadster Limited with 50K miles and I just purchased from out of state a mint 2006 Sapphire Silver Blue Coupe Limited with 27K miles!! Both Crossfires came from good homes - babied, garaged, serviced and are in 99% excellent condition. These unique cars are incredibly fun and are real head turners everywhere we go. I purchased mine out of state and each time when I stopped for gas on the all day drive home someone was either giving the car the complete eyeball look over, like, "What is that???", and some people actually came up and asked me. I will be posting a few questions about some minor things I have noticed, or other routine questions, but otherwise we are very happy to have what I think are soon to be collectible classics.

Congratulations! We hope to have our Roadster till death do us part, in spite of a few common parts failures, (minor, except for the rear window detachment). To us, it is already a classic. At 86k miles, she is no longer a daily driver, thank goodness. I've done 95% of the maintenance & repairs myself, often helped by the guidance of the great folks on this forum.
Happy and safe "motoring"!

WOW! Now that's what I call joining the forum! Congrats on your purchase(s).

Curious to know where you picked up the 2006 Coupe out of state.

Enjoy your new purchases! If the 05 is Inferno Red it's a Special Edition (SE), a Limited would be Blaze Red. Easy way to tell the difference is if it has fog lights or not. An SE won't have the fog lights, Limited will.

Ah ha! Yes it does have fog lights, you are correct it is Blaze Red, and I realized that after I posted. No matter what these are super fine little cars. It's too bad that (1) the four year production span did not offer much in the way of interior or exterior upgrades, and (2) it's too bad that production ceased in the first place. We are really glad to have the two that we have. Not sure if they will ever reach "collector status" but due to low production they will always have a unique factor that I think will increase as time goes by.

I know the feeling....we have 3 of them! Not difficult to work on if you aren't afraid of turning a wrench. And a fun (if slightly cramped, I'm 6'4") car to drive from the Pacific to the Atlantic.

I thought that there were just Base and Limited models in 2005 and they were all Blaze Red CPC according to the 2005 spec sheet.
The year 2005 was the first year of the roadster so I doubt they would have three versions of it.

You are correct. Special Edition didn't come out until 2006 model year & only came in Inferno Red. And from 2006 on, Inferno Red was the official listed color. 2004 & 2005 were the years for Blaze Red. (Note: Per the brochures I downloaded for all model years.)

Just curious whether there really was a difference in the formulations or just a name change.

Answered my own question with the attached file. Looks like only a name change by Chrysler on the reds. Anyone know what the Deep Coral Red (PVJ) color code was used on?

There are several differences between the Special Edition & Limited Roadsters. These are covered elsewhere in the forum so folks can check for themselves. But you are correct, the absence of fog lights would say the car was either a Base model or Special Edition (red only).
